When we see Thanos finally in action, I am sure no one will be bored and disinterested in Avengers 3.

Now if we get all of part one with bare minimal of Thanos, that would be a shite movie by Marvel. But as of right now people are pumped for Cap 3 & Dr. Strange. I doubt Thor 3 will have the same energy as those two but as long as it isn't Thor 2 level bad (a space buddy flick of Thor and Hulk seems hard to mess up)

He is very much in the minority. People are pumped for all things Marvel because they took their time and created an in depth, interesting, and fun series.

I hear this idea.

But...DC needs a hit. Now.

And Spidey didn't wait too long to face green goblin or doc ock.

I think Darkseid is a better draw than Aquaman and friends.

I want to see Superman win some fights and with the help of the JLA get Darkseid to retreat. I want a clear good guys vs bad guys save the world movie.

Then you go Tower of Babel or Crime Syndicate for the next movie :)

I get that, but that's the kind of attitude that could be their downfall. I'm not saying it's impossible, but they risk blowing their load and overstuffing again. Just because Darkseid isn't in it doesn't mean it won't be good and/or a hit.

That series also only had 2 out of 5 good movies. Arguably one.

Well of course. But there are other villains out there. It doesn't have to be Orm and Black Manta. The Avengers had the same villain as the Thor movie and nobody gave a shite. It's about making a good, fun movie that people can enjoy. Not who is in it. Marvel has proven that. BvS has arguably the most popular super heroes in it and it's not very good. That's why they're in the position they're in.

Darkseid has a bigger draw. Why downgrade? Imagine how good he can be with a proper build up.

Apparently, this guy didn't get the message that BvS sucked and we should all hate it.

quote:

This all culminates in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers. In that film we are introduced to a cast of dramatic actors who are placed into multiple scenes where they are meant to deliver comedy lines. Captain America is old, but he’s not! Tony Stark catches a lackey playing Galaga. It’s all a great, wonderful world, and everyone is driven toward the same kinds of lines, all written in the same pop culture comedy voice.

It’s strange that the memes and memories that are culturally associated with these films are all the comedy lines. The well-directed action sequences and storylines and narratives of the characters aren’t talked about. What I see, release after release, is people only talking about the things that are funny in contemporary Marvel superhero films. The pieces ignore the character interactions or the interesting and strange plot conceits in order to focus on how those interactions generate chortles and guffaws. The breadth of the film is reduced to a razor-thin wire of tracking comedy beats.

Batman v Superman (or BvS for short) is a beautiful antidote for our addiction to the comical superhero film. It is a bleak, confident take on DC’s roster of superheroes that doesn’t fit them into a comfortable framework. Instead, it is a film that gives us characters with motivations and feelings and expects us to come along for a discomforting ride.

You have a couple of movies before you risk losing interest in Darkseid. You've dropped the hint, so you assume he's the big threat down the road.

We still have to actually see Darkseid, that can be teased next. Maybe just a scene in the next modern big-name film (Wonder Woman will not be modern, it will be a historical film set to show her origins). Can't see Darkseid playing a role in a Flash, Cyborg or Aquaman movie, they just don't have that. Maybe the next Superman role, or if they introduce an interstellar hero (Green Lantern reboot, maybe?). Just for some valid context.

Early numbers show it only did about 3 million yesterday. It's fading fast. I thought 900 mil was a lock but it might not even hit that.

Wonder Woman ruined the ending. She had no place in this movie.

I agree 100%.

All the people saying she was the best part of the movie are brainless fanboys; she literally played no role and had no purpose in the movie and then just kind of shows up.

quote:

Yet Snyder finished the film with Superman doing his same ole thing but now with a female counterpart and in the end, the world worshiped him in his physical death.

Her inclusion truly felt like bald-faced pandering- it was like "And look! Something for the ladies!"

I wish they would erase this movie from existence. For those of you who like the movie, listen to that podcast. As I said before, it's not about you or I. It's about what's right for the series, and BvS is not it.

You are entitled to your opinion (which sucks). The move was a breathtaking release from the action and quip s of most CBM movies.

It started with a funeral procession, and ended with a funeral procession. it showed what would happen in a real world of super heroes. People would hate them. Real men would be vigilantes and kill. Supermen would be conflicted and save. Nukes would be used more responsibly. And actually tragedies would occur.

And frick the speculation. You all know what's coming. The bell has been rung, and CANNOT be unrung. Ding ding ding ding ding.....ding ding ding ding....

Saw it last week and my brief thoughts which I think most have been covered throughout the 60+ pages. There are a lot of little things that bugged me but I'll hit the main points.

I still don't know why Lex hates Superman so much. They never explored any of his motivations and he just did things because he wanted to?

The dreams and Justice League trailers were a distraction and should have been used for after credits scenes. Even if you think the story is linear and makes total sense, the dream sequences add nothing. I guess Lex is responsible for creating their logos? I guess when they use these insignias, Lex will have a reason to hate them since he can't take them to small claims court for copyright infringement.

A collection of subplots that do nothing to connect the overall story. It's like building a house without any framework. The main items are there; foundation, roof, walls, etc but no supporting structure. All while trying to install electrical and plumbing.

The ending was a waste of one of the best comic book storylines of all time and should have been saved for a solo Superman film.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying the movie if that's what you want. The movie is there and will always be there for you. You'll even get an extended cut. But that movie is over. It's time to start thinking about the future of these characters and how to redeem things. Unless you don't care about the future of DC. Which at this point is probably the case with a lot of people because of BvS.

People are going to avoid Suicide Squad because of BvS? Wonder Woman? I doubt it seriously.

And when they promote the Justice League movie with footage of all of those characters in battle, people will line up to see it. It may end up flopping like BvS, but it'll still get the same initial interest.

And the same people that vowed that they wouldn't see BvS will make the same vows, and so on and so on.

Some will, yes.

Absolutely.

Less will than did for BvS. Especially if they know the tone will be the same. I'm not talking about the diehards here. I'm talking about the general audience.
quote:

Yes.Yes it could. Isn't that a problem?
quote:

No it won't. Those who hated BvS will be MUCH less interested and confident in a JL movie because it's a continuation of that story. I know I am.

There will be more this time. It's common sense. You have a bad movie on your hands that flopped and now you want to continue that story?

ETA: Take your blinders off, bro.

So you're going to complain and wring your hands over a movie series that you have zero control over? Why don't you enjoy life instead of worrying over the minutia of what movies you'll be allowed to see in the future.

They're going to make superhero movies that you enjoy. They're going to make some that you hate. Just enjoy what you can and don't worry about how horrible the world has become because of one bad movie.
