Just finished it. I will elaborate later, but it is the worst movie I've seen since the Last Airbender.

How many movies do you watch a year bro? I didn't think it was great either, but c'mon. There's worse shite that gets thrown our way every single year.

So I just saw a clip of the movie on ESPN where they're fighting on top of a building while it's a thunderstorm outside...

Is the horrendous CGI in that scene the same type of cgi throughout the movie? Because it looked like it was out of a video game or some crap, especially the moment where batman is looking over the edge of the building with the rain coming down around him.

We get it, you think you're a cinema genius. Give it a rest already

They should have seen what Marvel did and followed suit. Not a complete copy and paste but it should be much easier than what they've done. It seems like most people just want something enjoyable. They over thought the whole Universe, plain and simple. Like they knew the characters better than the general public which, clearly, they do not. Even people who have a small knowledge of the DC characters know that this portrayal was off somehow. I overheard people walking out of the theater just confused by the whole thing. I think this is primarily because they crammed in way more than they should have and it was difficult to follow. For the average movie goer anyways. I felt like you have to have a good knowledge of all DC properties to not be totally confused by the end.

Excellent post, I completely agree. It's incredible that DC has basically outsmarted themselves. Just make some fun, energetic movies, and you'll kill it at the box office. No fricking way does this film make a billion. I expect it drop off bad come next weekend.

CGI was fine to me. The visuals of the movie were great. I'll give Snyder that.

I don't see it either. It really is a shame. Batman is my all time favorite. That being said, I think that standalone Batman movies with this Batman would kill it at the box office. I really hope Affleck does direct it if he can, I've enjoyed the movies he's directed and think he would nail it.

Man, I'm stayed away from most of the long spoilery posts, but this is bad.

quote:

Still haven't seen it...but these are the kinds of things which, as much as anything else, seems to point to either Snyder being simply unwilling to use the source materials at his disposal or WB/DC simply not grasping what they have. I hate to make a comparison to Marvel, but since we live in the world of superhero movies launched by their success, it's impossible not to. What Marvel has done so wonderfully is TRUST THE MOTHERfrickING SOURCE MATERIALS. Where there have been tweaks they've been minor...but they've mostly accepted the fact that their characters have been world-wide successes for decades in print and it might actually be ok to simply use them as is. They're not afraid of what made fans love them in the first place...they embrace it.

Me either (tickets for Sunday), spot on here. Marvel gets knocked for a lot, some certainly deserved, but this is true. It's why everything works, and everything feels "comic book" natural.

But this...

quote:

It wasn't a bad film, but it just takes itself way too serious. Such a joyless film.

quote:

Which begs the question...what's so wrong with Superman and Batman that you have someone say, "this is a different Batman than we're accustomed to." WTF? Was Batman broken? We've seen TREMENDOUSLY great portrayals of Batman in the various animated movies...and they're not all the same, but they honor the character. Why is WB/DC allowing such drastic retakes on their franchise characters?

Is spot on, even from the MoS perspective.

my god, if this is what DC is pitting against Civil War or anything avengers related, then they've lost in a huge way. such utter disappointment.

DC comics come off looking like there's no fun to be had in their universe and it's a goddamn tragedy bc we know that's not the truth.

now watch the Russo bros take the entire WB/DC mindset to school with CW and Infinity War.

its bc they know how to have fun in a movie, which I know can sound like a cliche or even stupid.

the marvel flicks can be cheesy as frick but they at least never try to go too far overboard on the serious scale.

To piggyback off of the other video just posted... LINK

Jimmy Fallon, the guy who loves everyone and everything, can't even say that he loved this movie. All he brings up is how loud it was and the seats rumbling And Ben definitely looks a bit nervous about the reviews and points out its "made for audiences, not critics"

OK, he saved a space shuttle, all the while making a quip with the military about holding the world hostage on his own terms. But why is Superman the ideal I should strive towards simply from the last 2 movies? I see no reason for him to be a role model whatsoever. He shouldn't have had a national funeral.

Because he's been helping people for over a year and while (in spite of that) the government was questioning his intentions he gave his life to prevent another national disaster like Zod. As Wonder Woman said, they didn't know how to honor him, so they honored him as a soldier.

Not even close. Seriously, if you continue with the hyperbole, no one is going to take you seriously.

Ben looks like he might start hyperventilating when Jimmy brings up the movie. My God, Ben knows how bad this thing is. I bet he's fricking regretting the moment he decided to work with DC. It's a fricking shame.

That Sad Affleck clip says it all. He knew this thing wasn't directed worth a shite and could have done better himself.

They need to give Affleck the reigns to the DC universe. I'd much rather see him direct justice league than Snyder.
