Hoo boy, that's some sweet irony around these parts.

What she said is not untrue. Very little time in the Odyssey is spent in the perspective of a woman. especially her character.

It's not untrue, it's just so obvious the only reason I can imagine she said it is as a complaint and something they needed to "correct." It would be like a man taking a role in The Handmaid's Tale and saying that it really didn't spend much time representing the patriarchy. No shite.

Think that says a little more about you than her.

Spoken like a moron who doesn’t know the intention of the epic.

I didn’t think I wanted to see this movie less tan I already did but it keeps on pushing it. It’s going to be one of the biggest flops of all time. When all you had to do was not pander. That’s literally it

Yeah because the story is about Odysseus and his journey to get back to his family/homeland.

It’s like someone complaining that Saving Private Ryan doesn’t have very much perspective from the First Lady.

the feminist reimagining that this movie pulls a lot it's inspiration from.

Emily Wilson's translation is a translation. It is in no way a feminist remaining.

Did you even listen to the clip? She is in no way complaining. Se is literally just stating the difference between the book and the movie. The book = very little women's perspective. The movie = more women's perspective. This isn't that hard

Hell even the guy that is trying to sound smart in tweet must not have listened to the clip because if he believes what he says then the movie is going to be closer to his opinion of women's perspective.

Again, just another dumb person getting outraged over nothing and a clickbait tweet where he only quotes one part of the actual quote.

This is what I love about this board. You just equated not having a leading role in a story to slavery. It’s fascinating

IDK that it’ll be one of the biggest flops of all time, but people are definitely fatigued from being beaten over the head with this shite. It’s gotten old.

Personally, I want to see a version of Mean Girls from the Aaron Samuels POV, and how he dealt with the complexities of both relationships with Regina and Cady.

Lol, if Homer saw her, he would... on second thought, I'd rather not risk getting banned.

A movie from Aaron and Damian's perspective could actually be interesting. Never thought about that before but here we are.

Circe' is a great book as well, written from the perspective of a woman during the events of the Odyssey. Would highly recommend. It won the Goodreads readers choice award for Fantasy in 2018

Goodreads link
quote:

Circe by Madeline Miller is a 2018 novel that reimagines the life of the Greek mythological witch, telling her story from her own perspective, from her lonely childhood as a minor goddess to her exile on the island of Aiaia, where she hones her witchcraft and encounters famous figures like Odysseus. The book explores themes of self-discovery, power, motherhood, and love, giving depth to a character often portrayed as a one-dimensional villain in traditional myths. It follows her journey as she finds her voice and power in a world hostile to her, ultimately choosing between the world of gods and mortals.
