If tweet fails to load, click here. quote:
"When you read the Iliad and the Odyssey, very little time is spent from the perspective of the women. It's told from a very masculine side of things. The Odyssey takes a lot of time to really consider things from the female perspective. And so we see in Helen and Clytemnestra how this war has affected them both, and they respond to it very differently because of their experience."

O illiterate founder of Greece, the goddess Athena (a female) drives the entire story from start to finish. Her fingerprints are on every page.
The entire point of the story is that mortals, in spite of all their pride and greed, are the playthings of the gods and therefore must be humble and behave honorably or they will be punished. The male god Poseidon is the antagonist, and the hero is Athena, who repeatedly leads the otherwise helpless characters to resolution and peace.
This knowledge could be yours, if you read the book

"How can I wake up and be offended today?"
What she said is not untrue. Very little time in the Odyssey is spent in the perspective of a woman. especially her character. Penelope is the only female character that gets a very notable amount of perspective.

You'd prefer that people just lay back and never call out the absurdity? This would be a boring ahh board.

You're whining about whining
It's a discussion board. People discuss controversial things. Why is this bothersome for you? Ignore the threads and start your own waxing poetic about Citizen Kane. No one is stopping you.

I cannot fathom the level of self hatred you would possess as a man to cast this person as Helen and have her saying shite like this

You're posting in a thread that starts with someone making an absolutely laughable claim and comment.
That should be called out.
Now you might have a point if someone started a thread per whining without her making a comment, but unfortunately as usual, the left are the first to complain.
It's like you want them to whine, complain, change the meaning of things and no one to speak up to that?

I can't imagine being excited about this movie.

At least her ravishing beauty makes up for her lack of brains...

Except he's calling out something that isn't even untrue, he just wants to be mad. FWIW I'm just talking about the first clip, not the second, that one sounds pretty dumb. But he goes on a rant based on her saying there isn't a lot of women's perspective in the Odyssey. He comments on women's influence which is true but both of those things can be true. There simply isn't a lot of women's perspective in The Odyssey. But this guy wanted to make a big deal out of it so he did.
It's the same as when the Left gets their panties in a wad over literally everything. Everything is offensive. This is the same thing just the other side.

Remember last week when you said the same thing but the thread ended up going 5+ pages of people complaining over literally nothing?

Where did she say she doesn't like it?
We are on this board all the time giving our opinion on movies, shows, books, life, everything. Simply having an opinion on something doesn't mean you don't like it. She got asked if she could change one thing what would it be. Giving any answer to that was going to upset some snowflakes.

What a weird jump. I hate the casting and don't think she's that pretty. But I can put that aside and have a normal conversation without getting pissed over literally everything that comes out of her mouth.

My god
These people have no idea what times used to be like
Women’s roles in those times were totally different
Things evolve over time
No different than slavery
It was terrible for those that endured it but continuing to blame the past doesn’t help you move out of that cycle

Well she had never read the Odyssey before being cast even though she graduated from college so no she has no historical perspective or really any perspective at all except the feminist reimagining that this movie pulls a lot it's inspiration from.
