More so than ever it doesn't. 50 years ago if somebody would have been dressed like that on a magazine cover she would have been considered a whore or it wouldn't get published. Nowadays you can see that on almost any magazine cover.

I'm not sure if you're talking just movies though. I don't think most parents want their 8 year old child going to a movie and seeing tits. But I wouldn't imagine they would care if they saw a girl in a swimsuit. I think that's a fair enough for someone to feel that way.

But overall we don't have issues with displaying the human body.

I think more nudity is necessary.

When most people have sex, they don't make that much effort to make sure the sheet covers their tits and whatnot. That takes me out of the movie a bit everytime. More nudity, in cases such as this, is actually more realistic.

is a sex scene any different than a shoot out scene if it fits the context of the movie?

people are naked when they sex. it only fits for actress/actors to be nude

Exactly what I was trying to express at bottom of page 1.

More "offhand" nudity and less "framed" nudity makes for better realism IMO.

Here has been an overabundance of male nudity in comedy movies now, now is that exploitative?

Great movie. It will forever taint how you look at Jaime Foxx though.

I think if you're shooting a sex scene in a movie/show that bases itself in any kind of realistic setting I think it's "necessary".

Strategically placed blankets and sheets are just annoying to me.

The nudity in Fast Times was vital.

I mean, Brad is jerking off...

Are we supposed to believe he's thinking about Phoebe Cates with her clothes on???

The nude scene in Titanic was pretty damn necessary to the character development of Rose. She was escaping the the norms of her perceived status and opening herself up to a new world and new ideas

Right, but she could have been filmed from behind and we still would have gotten the point. We don't have to actually see her tits to know that she's nude and Leo's character is seeing her tits.

I think it may have been necessary to show why her fiancee got so mad. someone eventually instructed the rent a cop to lock Leo up. That is a pretty important factor. Showing that may have sucked some people into feeling he had a reason to be so mad.

Well in "The Crying Game" it certainly was more effective than saying "I have a cock."

Just in movie scenes or IRL too?

I hate the perfectly draped sheet. It makes me think of Ward and June Cleaver having twin beds.

I've heard actresses say "I'll only do nudity if it's integral to the plot."

This is code for "I want more money." Demi Moore got paid a record amount for an actress for Striptease, Halle Berry got an extra half million for Swordfish. I'm sure most other big name actresses get paid extra for nudity. B-list actresses or new actresses just starting out will do it just to get a job.

What about shows like Game of Thrones

If they wanted to stay loyal to the source material then the nudity is definitely necessary. The A Song of Ice and Fire series is decadent as frick.

Was really needed in The Cool Surface. Thank you, Teri Hatcher.

Don't know if it was necessary, but at the beginning of 28 Days Later when Jim wakes up in the hospital bed, he was nekkid.

Don't get me wrong: As a guy I love it when hot actresses go sans ropa (ie, nekkid), but aren't the actresses being exploited? Is nudity ever really necessary in a movie?

It depends if you appreciate the beauty of the human body (female mostly) in its natural state.

Kat Winslet's nude scene in Titanic was tastefully and artistically done.

I also think it was a necessary part of the love story in the film.

The capturing of the female or male form it artwork has been around since the dawn of time.

Modern day cinema is just another vehicle for it.

the opposite is true too sometimes like when there's a sex scene and the girl keeps her bra on the the entire time. it makes the scene completely unbelievable; either shoot around it or show the nudity.
