Male nudity.. Yes, I agree

Female no...if you are making a movie called unfaithful for example, A fine movie with glorious nudity about the scandalous horny house wife... You need to show the scenes, that she wants to be a slut and have an affair.

Pisses me off more when they try to hide it like the friends with benefits movie with mila kunis. If you are trying to exploit a movie about sex, then you need to show it all

But why is it an issue? Does it make you uncomfortable?

Our society seems to have issues with displaying the human body, issues which make little sense to me.

For example, this is ok because her nipples are covered up:

But the moment people see nude breasts, it becomes embarrassing. It makes little sense to me.

well, the piano could have done without it

Although, the scene of a naked Holly Hunter in bed, bending over on all fours and shot from behind, is kinda hot. You can see enough to know that she did not shave for that movie.

that was a great scene
Indeed.

I was watching it with my wife and after that scene I said something along the lines of "That was a brilliant use of nudity."

My wife did not agree.

Not at all. As I said, on a persoanl level I enjoy it. I'm just wondering from the POV of the actresses. Seems to me they're being exploited.

The camera didn't need to follow Clark Gable and Vivian Leigh up the stairs for us to know what Rhett Butler did to Scarlett O'hara once he got her into the bedroom.

Right, but she could have been filmed from behind and we still would have gotten the point. We don't have to actually see her tits to know that she's nude and Leo's character is seeing her tits.

The same could be said for Evan Rachel Wood at the end of Mildred Pierce if you're going to use that argument.

Perhaps, but of the two the scene in Mildred Pierce seemed much more integral to the plot IMO.

In Titanic we're supposed to be identifying with Kate Winslett's character. She is freeing herself. Implied nudity would accomplish that.

In Mildred Pierce, we're supposed to be identifying with the mother, not the daughter. We see what SHE sees...ie her beautiful young daughter who has just bedded the mother's husband. Seeing her beautiful nude body underscores for Mildred that she is old and has lost her husband to a younger woman. And the daughter, who is in a battle of control with the mother, slowly parades her nudity before her mother. It is a GREAT scene.

Who cares? They are all soulless skanks anyway, making a living exploiting themselves.

And I will argue with anybody who says that the tits during the credits of Dawn of the Dead were not integral to the plot.

You could have done that without showing any nudity. Plenty of POV shots have been done by just showing skin from the neck up. Implied nudity would have worked just as good there.

The problem is I can't view nudity in a movie from an 'artistic' viewpoint. I just see a nice rack and think, hehe, thanks mr. director.

#1 definitely. Great scene, good use of nudity.

#2: Didn't see it

#3: Weird scene; not sure how integral the nudity was, but the girl had a great rack so I liked it.

When I read your post, I tried to figure out if the hottest sex scene in the history of film, Selma Hayek in Desperado, was necessary. I don't guess it was, a scene where you knew they were having sex would have been enough. I guess that could be said for most of them.

It also can arse to the celebrity of a woman too, so that might make one more inclined to do so. Also rating wise, there are a number of movies that could have been pg-13 if not for a sex scene/tits. But nowadays people don't want pg-13, it needs to be R to be considered good or funny for some reason.

The end of Reqium For a Dream with Jennifer Connelys scene I would say was necessary. That truly showed how far she had fallen. That added with the tear in her eye, made you feel bad it was. I don't consider that scene as exploiting her.

Selma Hayek in Desperado was hot but so was Julianna Guill in Friday the 13th. The Unrated Version of that scene is basically soft core porn.

There are times when it looks like nudity is forced into a scene.

If it's shot like nudity just "happens to happen" in the course of a scene... Then I think it adds to the realism.

You see a lot of "flashes" of offhand nudity in BBC shows. It works better than some of the "framed" nudity in a lot of movies.
