Even if you did, you'd find very few comic book pages ever where Shella Bal is a "Silver Surfer." I'm talking less than 10 pages ever in alternate universe one offs. She doesn't even meet the typical Disney definition of "established" character they introduced when they bought Marvel.

Amen. Again, this is the 3rd attempt to do something with this mediocre franchise instead of investing in original ideas. Absolutely pathetic

Because they thought the movie had too many white guys and wanted more diversity so they made the silver guy a chick and the white male be played by a guy named Pedro.
They made Nick Fury black. They made Heimdall black. They made Valkyrie a way more important character than she ever was in the comics.
Those all worked and helped them push their diversity. They also have countless examples of trying to push diversity and it failing because it feels like the starting point was to be diverse and the next step was to try and create content.
What we have to hope is they started with a great script and added diversity onto it later without bringing down the quality. Plenty of movies and shows have had awesome diverse cast and be fantastic. The problem is their track record recently hasn't shown that to be the case. They appear to be trying to appeal to a wider fan base in hopes of keeping their billion dollar movies rolling and instead they made subpar quality films because the focus wasn't on story first, it was making content pointed toward certain groups.

She was made of silver and riding on a surf board.
Look, I don’t care. I don’t think it’s going to ruin the movie, but she’s silver….. and surfing.

How come the CGI looks worse than the last movie with SS in it from the earlier 2000s? The chick on the surfboard looks like a character from the Island of Misfit Toys from the Rudolph movie of the 60s.

Lmao this has John Goodman diarrhea written all over it.

Pedro Pascal is white, there's a reason why it's called white Hispanic

Ultimate Fury is black

Heimdall black.
Chances you actually knew who he was before the MCU

Not really but I'm guessing you again don't care

And yet here you are bitching about the whitest cast for an MCU movie since the first Captain America movie.

There are definitely some bad signs already

Everyone knows no white guy has ever had a Spanish or Portuguese name. Definitely not all those white people who live in South America. Especially not all those white people from Spain or Portugal.
And frick any revisionist history on black Nick Fury. Mark Millar writing a new version of Fury explicitly modeled on Samuel L Jackson was on every Marvel fan's list of coolest things done in the early 2000s. The MCU coming through and actually casting Jackson was dream come true for everyone reading comics at the time.

You sound like a loser who doesn't get out much.

Are you defenders of this sort of shite all white male pussies who don't even realize you have been trained?

Or we just don’t give a shite. Give me a good story and I’m in. Of course I’m not a comic book reader so I could give two shits about the race or sex of a fake character that is translated to the big screen.
My concern is they didn’t already do this 20 years ago? I know it’s an alternate timeline and whatnot but looks awfully similar to the second movie.

My "hawt take" on the trailers:
- I said initially that I thought Pedro Pascal was too old to play Reed Richards in the MCU. Im not the biggest Pascal fan out there anyway, but now I see they are using Downey as Von Doom so the age makes more sense due to them being school rivals/classmates.
- Sue Storm looks too young for Richards in this but it might be that they are using the really early story for them where Sue is like 10 or 15 years younger and fell in love with him when she was a teen.
- I don't like the look of the guy playing Johnny, hopefully he'll sell it better than I think he will. He doesn't have that cocky swagger that I envision the character to have.
- Ben fricking kills it in this trailer too. Looks are spot on and I like his interactions.
- Silver Surfer looks goofy. Female or male, doesn't matter. It is tough to make a chrome person look good. They actually did a good job in the last movie but this one looks even more "chromey" than that. That out of the way, I am in the camp of not liking them using a female Surfer out of the gate. Maybe she won't be the main Surfer in the MCU and she is just there in this universe.
- I will be there to see this in the theater for sure. I hope they do it well, I have enjoyed the Comic movie phase as it has given us a lot of good popcorn movies but they are on a losing streak right now. I hope they are starting to right the ship but I see it more of a closing down than a jumping off point now. I hope I'm wrong because this time of popcorn action movies is winding down if these last few Avenger movies fail.

Of course you give a shite. You have to say something snide to make like you are too big to care.

I feel like this movie is going to end with Galactus destroying Earth and Reed finding a way to the MCU universe with Doom coming along and blaming Reed for the loss of their Earth so yeah I feel pretty likely that this Surfer will only appear here.

I'm not the one crying about a girl being in my movie.

No one is doing that.
The problem isn't solely that she's female. That's bad, but not the worst possible thing.
The real problem is she's not Norrin Radd and they're using his story to introduce her. This makes it seem very unlikely we will ever get anything other than an extremely watered down Silver Surfer in the MCU. Or worse, they make her the MCU Silver Surfer. I mean...surely they won't do the Galactus story twice, right?
This is a slap in the face to any Silver Surfer fan.
