So, the focus will be on Connie getting the shite beat out of her by her husband, whoring around after being widowed, then becoming the unofficial consiglieri when she is old?

Well this one is destined to fail. Movie execs are completely out of touch. No wonder the industry is on such a downturn

I want to know more about Merle and her oldest boy that got picked up for petty theft in Reno.

OK...not really.

As a huge fan of the first two movies (and having the perhaps-unpopular opinion that II is better than I), this could be better than III if it's done well. But Hollywood doesn't exactly inspire much faith these days.

it will almost certainly be a retcon about how her character was the steely eyed cornerstone of the Corleone family all along

AP article

Trigiani, a million-selling author who wrote of her own Italian roots in the novel “The Shoemaker’s Wife,” is also known for such favorites as “Lucia, Lucia” and “The Queen of the Big Time.” According to Random House, the Puzo estate “sought out” Trigiani after she published a Substack essay lamenting how little was known about the Corleone women.

“We had been looking for someone to retell the story from a new perspective,” Anthony Puzo, the author’s son and executor, said in a statement. “Adriana was knocked out when I told her that the character of Vito Corleone (played in the films by Brando and De Niro) was actually based on my grandmother. We talked about how the women ran both of our families, but behind the scenes. Adriana’s vision for Connie’s life blew us all away. I’m very pleased and excited to have her on board.”

So all the men will be bumbling idiots and the mom and Connie will be the ones directing the whole enterprise. I can’t wait to not buy my tickets.

Holy hell this sounds like the worst idea ever.

Imagine trying to recast Brando, Pacino, Duvall, Caan, Keaton, etc.

whoever greenlit this should be blackballed.

Sounds like a movie the Bud Light marketing exec would love!

The only way this can possibly work is to keep it in the timeline. You can’t set it during the movies we’ve already seen.

Which means you have to live with part 3. So Vincent is technically in charge, but is just a figurehead. They kind of laid the groundwork for this in three, and a little in two with the let me take care of you line to Michael.

They’d have to absolutely pull a rabbit out of that hat to make it work, and I don’t see how it would, but that’s the only path I can see.

She’d be running around the world like a billionaire heiress building art museums and hospitals, but in reality would be a mobster.

I think I’d rather see a Rocky reboot from Adrienne’s perspective.
