Okay, here we go. It's a gritty cop show with one catch. Are you ready? Are you ready? It's a musical show. That's right. Cops singing songs. Who wouldn't love that?

And then, afterwards, we can hire some Eastern European prostitutes to shove their whole fists up our asses and rub their knuckles against our prostates.

Wow. I feel like a real Hollywood producer.

A show based on late night tv similar to 30 rock

Or a show on the difficulty in becoming a standup comic.

Show: Athletic Department

Setting: Small division 2ish school in the South in a small to mid-size town

Premise: Show will follow the day to day operations of a small athletic department with goofball administrators and coaches. The facilities at this school suck, the coaches are all washed up has beens, their teams are awful. Throw in an reasonable new young coach who has deal with everyone else being total goofballs.

Some funny bits would be:
coaches recruiting, making outlandish promises etc.

NCAA investigators checking out allegations of misconduct while coaches and administrators spinning the bad things they have done.

Coaches showing up drunk to games and practice.

Coaches getting into fights with Coaches from other schools

Staff meetings

General everyday goofball behavior

Not a bad idea. Although I assume Alcoholism couldn't be a main thread in a 7 or 8 slot.

This is also very regional. Would this sell well in a NE market or Pacific NW market?

Yeah might have to leave off the drinking. Could still be funny regardless. I know from personal experience.

Im not sure how it would do in different regions. Id imagine if it were funny enough people would watch. I watch plenty of shows based in places I havent ever or wouldnt ever visit.

well coach lasted a bit...FNL, too

the problem is that you couldn't focus on the team for too long b/c they'd have to graduate, so your coaching staff would have to be completely amazing. the team could be a breeding ground for young NBC stars

that problem is that with football you're going to have a bunch of hulks...you'd have to have like a soccer coach or something where the actors could be realistic. plus it's a sport that sucks and ties in the "well at least we have hope in soccer" gags

This is possible. Have a new group of students/players, either in Pennsylvania or Texas. Then have former actors appear in guest roles.

You could even have the Riggins brothers coaching the Panthers.

I was actually going to suggest the same thing Football is overdone, and soccer has some growing appeal. And it's less regional.

#1 Problem with anything based on schools.

The next idea would be to plan an arc for 4 or 5 seasons, and let that be it, no extensions.
