Halloween
Valley Girl
Just about any John Hughes film.
Top Gun
Midnight Run (Danny Elfman’s soundtrack made the movie way more enjoyable).

Back to the Future…
Seeing the original in the theatre
That soundtrack was intense

From the enchantment under the sea dance to the end after Marty sees doc get shot (after he comes back)

Aliens

The first Friday the 13th score was so critical to the success of that franchise

Forrest Gump.. Without the best songs from each major event the movie would have lost most of the resonance of the people represented by the music

2001. The echoes of the music and the reference to the influences of Wagner and Nietsche on the superman are crucial inferences.

Pretty much every great Disney movie might count but I'll single out Beauty and the Beast.

Oh Brother, Where Art Thou is my last pick. The music and humor transform this from the kind of dry movie about the Odyssey that Kenneth Branaugh would have made into a masterwork with great rewatchability.

I didn't real all the responses, but for me, one of the best scores for a movie was "Braveheart".

totally agree 100%
John Hughes as well as Cameron Crowe were Brilliant at building a Soundtrack that was Essential to the Story and the Characters.

For Example

Bet most of you on the MB still remember what’s playing from the Boom Box

For many the music in movies is just background for me I actively tune in to the music being played

Pretty bad movie, but that AC/DC soundtrack makes it worth the watch.

Star Wars - The opening song is iconic. Darth Vader Imperial March is played at college games.

Flash Gordon - with Queen at its prime so good.

One more…Rockstar!!!! 80’s metal that had a Judas Priest inspiration in it. The music the band played is actually pretty good for 80’s rock.

Gonna watch.

I’m youngish Gen X but that is my jam.

It’s probably more Millennial, but “All these things I’ve done” is my favorite song of all time.
