My Movie Theater Experience

Went to movies for 1st time in 20 years last night and WTF has happened to theaters? Me and the ole lady(she wanted to go).
2 tickets = 25 bucks
2 small popcorns and 2 drinks = 40 bucks
65 bucks
The screen(picture was terrible)
The audio during intense scenes was literally so loud it became highly annoying
Last but not least went to see "The Odyssey". There was 20 people watching.
Ive loved movies like Troy/300(both of them)/Braveheart etc but I can honestly say that this movie was not good at all. I guess maybe cause I knew what was going to happen? The movie was about Odysseus's trials, tribulations and Nolan's portrayal of 1 big pitty party because the greeks used a wooden horse to infilitrate Troy, killed everyone and burn the city down. Almost 3 hour movie and maybe the last 25 minutes(spoiler) when he was reunited briefly with his dog till the end was good. 25 minutes out of 3 hours, the rest was not good.
Im no movie critic but movie experience itself was a 3 and the movie was a 5 at best. I couldn't believe how bad the picture was and the sound during intense scenes was unbearable.

Yes but I hadn't seen a good movie about the Greek/Trojan war before. Troy was leagues ahead of the Odyssey. This movie was one big pity party at every turn. Wasn't good except last few minutes. Jmo
Tbh Jason and the Arganauts although an old movie which had familiar lines although preceeded the Trojan war was similiar although different stories was basically as good as a 2026 movie in terms of the "story" itself. Achillies' father Peleus was an Argonaut.

Not sure, it was a 5 o'clock feature that didnt start till almost 530. She bought tix online. We are in South Florida.

I don't understand how theaters are still in business. For 10 trips at $65 a pop, you can buy a 75 inch TV with a somewhat decent sound bar and watch in the comfort of your living room.

This same movie is on my sky store channels in my living room and the movie was in hd and super clear. The wife wanted to see it at movies and eat fresh buttered popcorn. The screen was dull, dark and the color was terrible. I mean yeah it was a standard movie screen but in my life I never once thought the picture(definition) of a movie was bad before. Weird.

I detect some hyperbole in your story.
Did you not read the menu board that each small was $6.99, but one jumbo was $8.99 and do the math?
Pick a better theater. I haven't had these issues at basic screenings (not IMAX, etc) at Alamo, Flix, Cinemark, or AMC.

The audio is a Nolan problem. All of his movies are like that. I've never had a bad video experience at the theater but with this movie being filmed entirely in Imax I wonder if there's some issues fitting it on a normal screen.

Seems like the consensus around here. The movie was average at best. Wasn’t worth the trip. Bad Sound and dark screens. Bad casting. Yet it will be nominated for every award because we all know why.

There are several Odyssey movies on the sky store, however none of which is the 2026 film that you watched at the movies. How do you not know about theater screening options??? XD, 3D, IMAX etc???? The movie was shot with an IMAX camera and everyone in the world knows it’s the suggested way to view. Do you live under a rock?

How exactly did you see a movie with “terrible picture quality” when you went to a premium format screening (based on your reported price)? You’re either lying or you’re an idiot and patronizing a shite house local theater
Maybe next time, go on Tuesday for 50% off so you don’t have to be a little bitch about the price

Based on my experiences it's definitely not a Nolan problem, he just amplifies an issue that's already common in many theaters... at least Regal and AMC.
