There are very few entertainment options left

In the previous thread about this, I gave a few options that provide more value than a movie theater, for a comparable cost.

"You people are delusional."

Alright!! You found the few the post you replied to spoke about.

Why are people delusional?

No, I gave a "few" just off the top of my head. I could definitely find more if I put any effort into it.

The "few" off the top of my head (it costs my family of 5 about $150 to go to a movie at a movie theater after drinks and snacks):

1. Local water park - full day would cost about $200 for my family of 5
-my local water park is Alabama Adventure, if you want to verify; free sodas included with your entrance and you can get a pizza for about $20
-I actually just checked and this comes out to $170 total, including food, right now because they're running a special on tickets purchased online
2. Bowling alley
3. Dave & Busters - my family could easily spend 4-5 hours here for an equivalent sum of money
-there's an arcade in Alabaster, Alabama, that is even cheaper than D&B and just charges one entry fee for all day access to all their machines
4. Skating rink is comparable to a movie to pay to enter, but the food is much cheaper so it also ends up being a lot more affordable than going to a movie.

Heck my kids even like to go to the gun range or the archery range and shoot, and that costs us next to nothing other than cheap range bullets and the range fee.

That's without even getting into the "free" or "very cheap" options that exist pretty much everywhere like state parks, splash pads, local parks, simply going out to eat at a decent restaurant, I could go on but the list is very long. If I actually put effort into searching for stuff I'm sure I could fill this page with options.

You're delusional if you believe movie theaters fall into the class of "reasonably priced entertainment" these days. I'm convinced the only way someone could believe that is if they just don't get out much.

Odessey tonight my ticket alone will cost me $21.44.

Not getting in between you two, but I just paid $25.95 for three matinee tickets for it on Wednesday at a recently renovated Flix Brewhouse with loungers (non IMAX.)

$6.45 of that was booking fees, while booking on their own f*@#ing website, which is ludicrous.

So you provided a list with nothing cheaper than a movie?

I think he believes the snacks and sodas are mandatory. It’s pretty affordable if you can go 2-3 hours without consuming an entire day’s worth of calories in junk food.

No, in fact all of those are cheaper other than the water park, which is a full day of entertainment vs 2-3 hour movie.

Not sure how you came to your conclusion.

The popcorn at the Alamo with clarified butter was something to behold. AMC/Cinemark garbage isn't worth it. It's like they have never heard of Flavacol. A Whirley Pop popper with popcorn kits from sam's are brilliant.

No point in going to a movie theater if you can't get the full experience.

You demonstrated exactly what I mean by delusional. "If you just make the experience EVEN WORSE, it's only marginally expensive!"

Why fly if I'm not in first class?
Why go out to eat if I can't order every single menu item?
Why go to a concert if I'm not in the VIP area and doing a meet-and-greet?

You're calling people delusional because they enjoy seeing movies in a theater. You clearly don't. That's okay. You're delusional thinking that your opinion on this is the "correct" one.

Enjoy taking your kids to an all day nightmare water park. Enjoy your extremely fictional "decent" restaurants that supposedly cost less than a movie. Some other people will enjoy dropping an amount of money that they are okay with at a movie.

The full experience has turned into phone fatigue for me. If you go to something like SPR or FMJ, you won't get much (Young Washington I was the youngest in the theater by 20 years). Alamo was the last bastion of "turn your shite off," and when they got converted to Flix, you order from your phone in the theater. I'm pretty much done, except for things my kids want to do.

I came home and turned the movie on and was watching it in good clear television vs the shitty screen i watched it on.

I dont know which screening options cause I dont pay attention to that shite. I pay, go sit down and watch the frickin movie bro. I said I haven't been to the movies in a while. Dont need too and dont care to go back. Id rather take in a good Marlin's game. The amount of anal people here in this thread is wild af.
