We wouldn't consider Tyler Durden a villain, would we?

I wouldn't count Butler as a villain in Law Abiding Citizen.
He was a victim and those people had it coming to em.

I often root for the villain when it's a monster.
I rooted for the villain in:
Jaws
Orca
Predator
Jurassic Park raptors
The wolves against Liam Neeson
Battleship
War of the worlds
Ten Commandments just cuz

Gangs of New York - Bill "The Butcher" Cutting. Yes, I am a huge DDL fan. Come to think of it, I believe I have rooted for the villain in pretty much any Scorsese movie.

I always cheered for the rebels in the original Star Wars trilogy, but as I got older I rooted for the Empire in Return To The Jedi when I realized how stupid the idea of ewoks were

This is why Tarantino is one of the greatest of all time in scoring his movies. How many iconic scenes in his movies can you identify just by the music?
