You could remake E.T. (I wouldn't be in favor but it's not some holy grail.) It's a common story, alien comes to earth, fish out of water.
On your list, Gone with the Wind would be the biggest offense.
At one point it was the biggest movie of all-time before all this James Cameron nonsense.
I would add Lawrence of Arabia. That would really disturb me...bastardizing that film.
Only because they don't make movies like that anymore, they're too expensive...
It's old school grand expensive film-making on location...if Hollywood has abandoned that, they should let all those movies alone that went to the lengths and expense to make those epics.
