This service really sucks now. Was on my way to watch blindspotting at 2 at a theater nearby and they took it down. Go to reserve ticket for ant man at 4 and it says I have to buy ticket within 30 minutes. So I guess when 3:50 rolls around I can expect Ant Man to be off the board too. Went to check Fandango for blindspotting in the same theater, no seats taken for the 2:00 show. This is the first time I’ve been pissed off at this service.

At this point MoviePass is acting like a landlord under orders to run out every tenant who is paying rent and expecting access to their apartment. They want renters who pay their rent but live elsewhere.

I think they ran out of money again. “No more screenings” at every theater.

Yeah it stopped working for me a week ago, then started doing more screenings, then stopped them again.
They're completely out of money. About to cancel them sometime today or tomorrow. Their honeymoon phase is over

They've been doing this every day. They will list the movies in the morning, but they will leave out some show times. Then it appears that when a certain amount of tickets are purchased, they remove all the listings. They are limiting the amount of cash they will spend each day, so if now if you want to see a movie with MoviePass, you have to go to the theater in the morning to buy a ticket for an evening show.

Another shut down
They could at least let me pay the shitty 5 dollar surge charge

Yep they are shut down and considering I watch almost all my movies at night when the rest of the family is in bed this means I am off this ship. It was good for a few months now i am out.

You put the family to bed then head out to go see a movie?

Another MoviePass press release:
https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20180806005321/en/
Three movies a month for $9.95.
Surge pricing and ticket verification go away.
Popular movies still blocked (for how long not announced)
New plan upon renewal, so annual plan members still get original deal (except the movie-blocking part) for a lot longer.
Looks like they are finally facing reality. It's more like Sinemia now. I still think it's a great deal. I can do Stubs $5 Tuesdays for the blocked movies.

I cancelled my subscription after having it for about a year. I probably only get to one movie a month on average, but it was still worth it for me since most movies in Atlanta are over $10 anyways.
The surge pricing by itself meant that it was no longer a deal, and to place restrictions on new/popular movies was the last straw.

I think it’s time we admit MoviePass has completely failed. Not sure why they’re still trying at this point

As others have said, for $10 a month, I can stick with this until they are dead and buried. As long as surge pricing disappears and all the showtimes return, I can live with it.

The new plan will include many major studio first-run films.
Nope. That's a deal breaker. I see major releases the opening Thursday or Friday.

that's the problem. there aren't 3 good movies out per month
typically, there's 1 good movie out per month. at this rate, you're breaking even on the year. occasionally, there are 2 good movies out in the same month, which is where you see the real value.
