The ending scene from Seven fricked me up for weeks. I have never been so angry after leaving a movie. I hated SO much that John Doe got exactly what he wanted.

And the climactic chase/fight scene in Last of the Mohicans is probably my favorite sequence in movie history. From the moment that the score comes up when Duncan trades himself for Cora and gets burned at the stake, to Unkas going after Alice and getting killed by Magua, to Chingachgook taking on Magua is fricking amazing.

The Exorcist Linda Blair with the cross, and the scene where she jumps up and kisses the old priest at the end of the movie.

Nightmare on Elm Street when Freddy Kills Johnny Depps charecter and the scene where the girls is in the bathtub and Freddies claw hand comes up from between her leggs..

The original Friday the 13th when the arrow point comes through Kevin Bacons neck or the end when Jason reaches up and grabs the girl in the boat in the lake.

Saving Private Ryan was already mentioned, but not for this scene. For me it is the end. Where Ryan as an old man is at Hanks grave and asks his wife "Tell me I've been a good man." That is one of the most powerful scenes I remember ever seeing and GREAT movie making and storytelling. The beginning where again as old Ryan he collapses at the sight of the grave sets up the ending scene.

I dare say this is definitely an example of a scene that it is ok for a "man cry." Which has been covered in other threads.

One of the best of all time! I remember seeing it for the first time in the Union Theater when I was a freshman at LSU. Had the pleasure of introducing it to my sons and some of their friends when they were in college. The scene you described is great, but don't forget the funniest line of all:

Gentlemen! You can't fight in here! This is the War Room!

The approx. 30 minute chase scene at end of The Road Warrior. It had no CGI crap, just dudes and cars flying around risking life and limb. It's the way it should be done.

Event Horizon - when they saw the filtered playback tape.

Shine - when he won the competition for his father even though his father shunned and disowned him forever!!

Also, not that this was a great movie, but I always loved the scene from Contact when Jodi Foster first hears the signal and is driving back to the headquarters while barking orders to the guys to move that field of satellites. Thought that was pretty cool.

I watched Bull Durham last night, so I'll do three scenes from there.

1. When Crash tells Nuke to throw at the bull, adn when he does, they both start laughing.

2. Following game when they're debating on the mound about Nukes dad/eyelid problem, Jose's cursed glove and what to get Jimmy and Millie for their wedding.

3. Same game, the cocksucker scene with the ump.

While not a good movie, the abduction scene in Fire in the Sky is terrifying.

The final scene of Blood Simple. Especially the shafts of light cutting through the room.

The ear scene in Reservoir Dogs

The car chase in Blues Brothers
