Pixar has more than a few. I watched this the other day with my niece and nephew.

Multiple scenes in Parenthood with Steve Martin. Particularly when Jason Robards comes to ask for advice about what he should do with the young deadbeat son.

The Pacific-Eugene Sledge’s homecoming montage when he returns home from overseas especially the night terrors and hunting scenes. Hans Zimmer absolutely nails the musical score that’s playing in the background.

And the music score [Ben-Hur] is incredible.

Agree 100%

Miklos Rozsa composed it along with the scores to other "religious" classics -- like King of Kings, El Cid, and Quo Vadis. (His collective cinema soundtracks, which include the Ben Hur soundtrack -- is available.)

If you can find this Album/CD, it's utterly spectacular.

>

It was said Rozsa (a Czech) was inspired in the genre by musical history and instruments that were in use from the past (along with finding compositional [Divine] inspiration from his own faith.

I know this one got me the first time I saw it and I would be a blubbering idiot if I watched it again. Having lost a child, Sally Field nails the combination of sorrow and anger perfectly.

There’s a scene in The Passion of the Christ when Jesus is carrying the cross and Mary is in the alley waiting and he falls right near the alleyway entrance and she sees it and she flashes back to helping him up when he fell as a small child and she rushes to him I’ve only ever been able to watch that movie one time.

So much this. Through all the explicit and implicit drama in the movie, this scene is what gutted me most. It also highlights the human aspect of Jesus as someone’s child.

Hoosiers

I wanna do it for my dad.

mystic River

When Sean Penn has to be restrained while grieving his daughter. He has 1 million wrinkles on his agonized face. Terrific acting

Peggy Sue Got Married with Kathleen Turner (and a very blond and 22 year old Nic Cage). Peggy Sue picked up the telephone and her deceased Grandmother was on the phone. I bawled because I knew that feeling.

Also from Hoosiers, but the final scene with the young kid shooting baskets with the picture of the championship team from so long ago looking down on the empty gym. I guess it is just a bittersweet reminder that something so special and life-altering while it is happening can be lost to history... and all of our love, hard work, accomplishments and failures eventually must be swept away and are largely forgotten and become insignificant to future generations. Yet the photo of Jimmy Chitwood and the Hickory team looks down on the gym day and night through the years... almost like timeless guardians for all the little kids who are just starting to learn the game and all the HS teams that play on that floor.

Oooooof. I lost it hard at that scene. Ted: "he quit."

Yeah. That was phenomenal writing and acting.

This is very common, but not the one that gets me. It's when Doc sees the little Karin choking and makes the decision to cross over. Hell, I can barely type it. Hey rookie! You were good.

The entire ending of The Green Mile

“I don’t want to be in the dark” drops and I’m a mess.

Pretty much the whole ending of A River Runs Through It after having lost a young brother.

Steel Magnolias gets me every time though. When Sally Field loses her shite after the funeral. fricking blubbering mess every single time.

That said. It may have one of the best sobbing to full on laughter moments of all time right after.
