Holy $hi….Cow. How have I never heard of this film? Just watched the trailer. It looks very interesting and a little disturbing. Thank you for posting.

Looks like the same studio that did Monsters which put Gareth Edwards on the map.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence - Spielberg’s retelling of Pinocchio - gets better every time I rewatch.
The scene where his adoptive mother dumps him in the woods like an unwanted kitten gets me every time.

So I just finished Aniara. Holy shite, what a bleak arse movie.

It’s pretty dull, and pretty much the whole thing is such a downer. But weirdly I still enjoyed it a good bit. Not sure I’d blindly recommend it to anybody, as it sure is a different kind of movie that definitely isn’t for everyone.

I feel like I need to go watch videos of puppies now or something.

100% was the first title I thought of.

For some reason, I was reading about it again this week and thought about starting a thread.

Event Horizon

That movie creeped me out when I saw it in the theaters in the dark in the 90's.

Just this evil eeriness and helplessness like Kairo (Pulse) (2001). Now THAT movie is underrated. Creepiest sci-fi J-horror movie that surpasses the others like Ringu, Dark Water, The Grudge etc.

Not all of the below movies are underrated, but the younger generation might not have seen some of the older movies. Examples of old: 2001 A Space Odyssey, The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951).

K-PAX
Source Code
Predestination (Someone recommended it earlier in the week on Tiger Droppings. I watched it and will watch again. Thanks!)
Æon Flux
Serenity (Movie version of Firefly with the TV cast.)

I have DVDs of all of the above except Predestination. Watched Valerian once again earlier this morning and have Lucy loaded and ready for a re-watch. Just need to hit the play button after changing some settings.

Underrated? This is one of the most universally loved and quoted horror/sci-fi movies of all time.

Oh that reminds me, The History of Time Travel, on Prime, is severely under-appreciated. A lot of people can't get past the terrible acting to see where the story goes, but it's only 1h10m long. The production is bad but the story is great.

If you liked The History of Time Travel then I recommend The Man From Earth.

Great story and movie. Very underrated.

I considered Spring a horror film, not to split hairs.

So I watched Spring last night. It's hard to explain, but I thought it was both meh and good at the same time. I ultimately did like it though, although I didn't care for the completely open ending.

But it's definitely not what I (or anyone else) would/should consider "sci-fi."

I'd really like to watch The Signal, but it isn't streaming anywhere for free apparently, so I will have to wait on that.
