Rose is awful but everyone should hate Potter with a passion as the embodiment of Corporate greed. He deliberately sought to ruin the lives of the common man for his own personal wealth. He's the Enron of the silver screen.

Hans Landa on the other hand is awesome he makes ever scene he’s in better and incredibly tense.

Hans Gruber is one of the greatest villains in movie history. He might be the perfect archetype villain. Nurse Ratchet is there as well.

Amon Goeth is pure evil a perfect representation of the Nazis.

I don’t hate those characters. Good villains make good movie Without them the story isn’t interesting.

All of those are great characters I agree and out of those I personally don't hate Hans Gruber. I was pretty surprised he won his matchup, possibly because people misunderstood the meaning behind the tournament. But despite Landa and Goeth being great characters that help make for a great movie, I still hated their character. I mentioned earlier, Landa had me hating him withing 5 minutes of the movie starting.

If you don't hate that chracter because they made for a great mvie, don't vote for them, go the Jar Jar Binks route. It's just whichever one you hate more, whatever the reason be.

Hans Gruber

Sure he murders a guy in cold blood.

But what really flips the switch is when he tries to kill McClain by pretending to be American.

We all love “Yippee-Ki-Yay, Motherf*cker!”...it's modern John Wayne-esque. Hans is attacking and insulting our heritage and culture as a terrorising foreigner. The dude cannot abide.

Are we using hated and evil as synonyms?

JarJar is a character I hate, he sucks and ruins everything scene he’s in. I feel like the Deltas when he’s on screen.

I asked this basically in the previous thread. I think it's just hateable characters, and not how good or bad they are.

I'm still mad that Daniel Larusso didn't even make it into the tournament. Hell, John Kreese did and Daniel is far more "hateable" than Kreese IMO. He's just a cocky douche who deserved almost everything that happened to him. Most hateable protagonist ever.

I just tell myself that he didn't make this tournament because it would've been so unfair to include him since everybody ele would be playing for second place.

That was definitely why he didn't make it. That and that you were the only one who nominated him

I was busy during the discussion thread and didn't get to participate much. some of these fill like greatest villain vs hateable person. Hans Gruber was great character with some funny lines. Khan was a villain of circumstance and tortured... not really hateable to me. Chiger was menacing, not hateable.

anyways...

ETA: saw this was covered.

In the KK universe, I think Silver is the most hate able and should have been in over Kreese. It’s apparent that Kreese just has some major PTSD from ‘Nam. Silver is just evil. Daniel is a douche, but Chozen, Johnny, and Barnes all like him now.

Yes. But the movie doesn't work without Potter. I do hate Potter, he's one of the most vile scum to ever be on screen.....

But the movie doesn't work without him. And he isn't annoying or forgettable. He's the antithesis of George and allows us to see a man who rises above that. He's an essential villain, even if I hate him.

Rose Tico actively works against the plot of the film, has no redeeming qualities and is the clear pillar of the problems with the modern trilogy. And she makes a hero make a stupid, pointless decision.

She's a dumb character.

If the tournament was "Most Vile" character or greatest evil character, Potter should win in a landslide.

But Rose Tico is hateable for a plethora of reasons, while Potter is essential to the hero journey and while we hate him, he is necessary.
