Maybe don’t remake 10-year-old movies?
How to Train Your Dragon didn't get the memo.... blew it out of the water. Think it did 250m/650m and they are doing the second one for a release next year.

I don’t understand remaking an animated film and using 95% CGI.
It’s basically just another animated film.
I mean I know why but artistically it’s just funny.

Do people really buy their tickets to see a movie weeks/months in advance? I’m sure we will take the kids to see it but we won’t buy tickets until the day of.

I thought it was really weird to do a remake of this and frozen. They aren't that old, especially Moana and you have to use so much CGI for the scenes, it's kind of like whats the point. It's all CGI and animated anyway, then you plop some actors front of a green screen. Seems stupid.
Now Snow White or Cinderella translate well to a live action because it doesn't need the CGI like the others do.

I liked the Cinderella live action that they did.
Cinderella was easily Disney’s best live action adaptation. They’ve gotten steadily worse since then.
Cruella and the two Maleficent movies weren’t bad, but they were basically reimaginings of the original animated films. They took the villains and made them the heroes.
I didn’t see the Lilo & Stitch remake. Apparently live action retreads of Tangled and Hercules are up next.

"How about we make the same exact movie but remove all the parts that make it good?"
Genuinely asking cause I haven't kept up with this, but what are they removing from the original?

It worked spectacularly for The Jungle Book (2016) and they have been chasing that high ever since.

They thought they needed The Rock to make people see it, and now what's his name is a weirdly old dude. And Moana isn't a kid. She's a teenager. The whole thing is just kind of off-putting on its face.

If they made money, it would make sense to me. Have these been making money? After the disaster that was Emma Watson's Belle ruining the entirety of the Beauty & The Beast remake, I stopped going to see them.

I bought the tickets to see Toy Story 5 with my grandkids a few days ahead of time to be sure I had good seats but it wound up not being necessary because there wasn't very many people there. Which surprised me some because it was the opening weekend

They don't ever intend to lose money, but breaking even and getting other revenue jump started is a good outcome for Disney.
It might be an acceptable outcome for Disney but it's not remotely close to what they were aiming for. Acceptable <> good.
