Bohemian Rhapsody is the high water mark, and Rocketman was entertaining but not quite on BoRap level.

“Michael” is starting strong at the international box office, generating $18.5 million on opening day.
Through the weekend, the movie is poised to dominate over global box office charts with projections of $65 million to $75 million (or more) domestically and $75 million to $80 million internationally.

It has a 7.6 on IMDB with lots of great reviews from people saying to ignore the critics. So who knows.

EXCLUSIVE: The walk-up business for Lionsgate‘s Michael Jackson biopic, 'Michael,' is doing significantly more than just easing down the road.
Earlier tonight we heard they were at $10M, then $11M, now the combined previews from yesterday’s Imax/PLF fan 6PM showtimes plus today’s showtimes which began today at 12noon are between $12.5M-$13.5M per sources. That’s easily the best ever for a musical biopic

Critics: Why wasn’t this a 2 hour deep dive into Michael Jackson’s psyche?
Audience score: 96%
Box office: Yuge
Sometimes people just want a good time at the movies. Seems like it’s gonna pay off for Lionsgate. Gotta be their biggest non-Hunger Games movie ever.

Is more like why isn't Michael presented as a human who deals with conflict?

Screw Rotten Tomatoes! Michael was a 10 out of 10 for me! Jaafar blew it out the stadium! Uncle Mike would be proud!

Audience scores are solid so far. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I'm taking the whole family on Sunday

"I like the window approach - focus on a week or a month or a year instead of a comprehensive history/arc. Draw in history in snippets for context.
Estates often take issue with this, preferring a full story, but I think the movie almost always suffers for it.
I'm drawing a blank on a good comparable, but Darkest Hour or Air come to mind (obviously the latter is more about Nike than Jordan)."
Would "My Week With Marilyn" be a good example?
I saw this movie when it came out and thought it was ok.

Michael Jackson’s estate is facing a new wave of molestation allegations from four siblings who say they were groomed and abused for years, and that many handlers in Jackson’s entourage willingly enabled it all.
“Michael Jackson was a serial child predator who, over the course of more than a decade, drugged, raped and sexually assaulted each of the Plaintiffs, beginning when some of them were as young as seven or eight. Jackson’s attacks on these siblings went on for extended periods, including in locations around the world and when Jackson and his children were guests in Plaintiffs’ family home,” the complaint states.
