Uneven. Agent Smith was distracting, I kept thinking, “that dude looks a lot like Dennis”.

That was, disappointing. A lot of shitty exposition, and no real Matrix moments. Neo never went ham, neither did Trinity. What a mess.

I mean, what was the point of the story?

wasn't incomprehensible at all. it actually should have been more vague if anything. it was convoluted but probably bc they wanted to fit an entire trilogy into one movie.

Went to the theaters to watch this tonight, and this was one of the worst movies I’ve seen all year. I felt bad for Keanu & Carrie-Anne Moss. Even the first two sequels, which I didn’t really like, felt like they were part of the same universe, and had a bit of grandeur to them. I don’t know what this shite is. I get that the two decade long gap certainly didn’t help, but this was ridiculous.

I saw a comment somewhere that this felt like bad fan fiction, and I think that describes the movie perfectly. Especially the opening 20-30 minutes or so. Just terrible.

To me it just felt like old school late 90s and early 2000s Hollywood lib plot writing. Felt nostalgic. Considering this was essentially a cash grab for now middle aged matrix fans, that seems like the objective but it wasn’t that great of a film.

I was expecting some weapons grade subverting of my expectations. Maybe something along the lines that freedom from machine rule is a sign of problematic human supremacy and that a blue pill mandate is issued to all non compliant humans to make sure that they are safe.

shite, I hope I didn’t give them any ideas.

Either way, I won’t argue that it was a good movie, but I also didn’t feel like I did after watching the last Jedi. Not even remotely the same ballpark.

Was an average film. There was definitely a girl power theme throughout the movie. The captain is a girl, the general leading IO is a girl, the Indian girl devises a plot to save Trinity. Trinity is gets Neo’s powers. Trinity then beats up the white male in power. Wake up was performed by a girl lead—and it was terrible.

Overall, not something I’d watch again, simply because the plot was meh.

We all know Jesus can't save you but Shesus can. GTFOH I'm not complaining. I mean look who wrote it. But, let's not turn a blind eye to facts.

think i'm so numb to the nonsense that it flew by me. i did notice the bad guys were white men, and the good guys were all weird AF. i simply expect it now.

The franchise went off the rails after the first film. I wouldn't watch past that except for the Monica Belluci scenes. Given that, this movie was dumb fun. Self referential light fare that shied away from the usual self-important mental masturbation. Throw in the two perfectly cast mustache-twirling villains and it's a decent watch.

I still put the Animatrix above the rest of the franchise.

I gotta admit. I still haven’t seen it, but the Gremlins 2 aspect of the first act and the fact that Lana Wachowski throws shade on Warner Bros. (in the movie itself) for announcing that they were making the movie with or without the Wachowskis piques my interest just a bit.

Throwaway line,

Oh, I understand that. Most of what might interest me is in the first act. Still, bit of a power move to say “Oh, I’m going to do a Matrix 4 and basically call out the stupidity of studio mandates and ‘Member Berries.”

Watched this last night.

Interesting (but over the top) and enjoyable first 1/3

Boring middle 1/3 when it turned into Matrix 1.1

Terrible final 1/3 when it turned into Revolutions 1.1

On a real note Movie was a little disappointing. I thought the movie would have been better if they stuck with the whole is he crazy thing. Maybe bring in that new game they were creating

For sure. Should have just stuck with the meta frequency. The first 1/3 was on pace to be an incredible sequel of a great movie.

Pretty much everything about the original Matrix could have become a deeper psychological and existential examination if they just continued the first 1/3 along its path without having to debase itself with shootouts and shite. When the new crew showed up with their douche canoe haircuts, I thought it would have been utterly hilarious had they had people who could interpret that world from above laughing at their leather/hair combos.
