Honestly I've not loved it but I haven't hated it. It is, well... quite watchable.

I hate to be that guy, but I think the whole white man goes to the far east and learns martial arts made a great many critics hate this series before the first episode aired.

Never mind that Iron Fist as a character has a good 40 years or so behind him. Or that in the comics more Asian characters get showcased in his books then you will likely find anywhere else.

Finn Jones isn't the greatest lead I will grant you. The show, however, does not deserve the level of hate it has going.

I went back and read some of the reviews, and a lot of the hate is SJW BS. White male appropriating eastern culture, sexism, mansplaining, etc. Also a lot to do with the plot being similar to batman begins. It seems like the majority of them watched episode 1 and just stopped.

Yeah, I can understand not liking Finn, because he's pretty meh as Iron Fist, and the story is very similar to many other comic origin stories (but that's because many comics do share similar starts). The fights also aren't nearly as well done as Daredevil, but they aren't chopped liver either.

Most of the critics dogging this show also consider LC a good series, and I think that pretty much says it all right there.

LC has some good qualities, but was a big pile of meh overall. IF is a solid step up from that for me so far.

To whoever downvoted the last three posts, care to explain why?

I will say, and I know this is a lonely hill to stake a claim on... the drug pricing thing in the third episode was as so much fart gas.

They even said it in the lead up... charging fifty for a pill we can produce at 5 will let us recoup our costs and develop new medicines.

Now they may go back and explain to Danny why he is a dumb shite on this... but its one of the more Hollywood things that always gets me. "We spent a few hundred million developing this drug that cures something... we should sell it at cost and go out of business in a year!"

You notice there is never a show preaching about how someone should pirate any TV show or Movie they want because frick the man.

Just finished, wasn't great and wasn't bad. Ending left much to be desired and didn't really set up for defenders.

I'm 5 episodes in, and I'm liking it so far. I mean yeah, the whole lost guy coming back and reclaiming his company has been done before. But it is still pretty good, and holding my attention better than both Daredevils.

This makes me laugh because IF was the rich kid in the east studying martial arts 40 years ago. Batman did that as "canon" 12 years ago.

Think it was further back than twelve years ago that Batman made it canon. It didn't start with Batman Begins but yes IF was the original to do this

Yeah that was in Batman's canon back when I was subscribing to every Batman book available in the 90s. Not the way it was done in Batman Begins, but he definitely traveled around to learn from the best fighters.

ETA: I'd say at least 25 years ago.

You might be correct. I didn't follow batman( or any of D.C.) back then but they for sure didn't have that as his back story when Kane was writing. I just laugh at the notion of IF ripping that off.

People just want to bitch.

ETA: thanks for a factual answer my bad on getting years wrong.

The problem isn't that it's unoriginal. When I watched the first episode of Arrow I thought "did D.C. rip off their own comic?" because Arrow's origin was similar to Batman's. But Arrow told an interesting story like I hadn't seen in the Batman movies. Iron Fist isn't bad, but 8 episodes in I think Arrow is better and wonder if I'd like it more had I never seen Arrow.

I got through episode 8 yesterday. You'll absolutely love the fight scene in that one.

I've always loved the drunken master style. Jackie Chan was incredible in that movie. I do wish that Iron Fist and his stunt double were more skilled. My favorite IF fight so far was him against security in episode 1, where he doesn't even really touch them.

It suffers a lot from villain switching and not having a good one that really defines the series. It's too all over the place.

I'm three episodes in and I'm enjoying it.

So far, I like it a lot better than Luke Cage and Daredevil both of which I gave up on.

btw: To the OP:

Can you maybe edit the subject line to indicate that viewer opinions begin on page 5 or something like that. And maybe include "non spoiler" since no one has put any spoilers yet.

Is the MCU honeymoon finally coming to an end?

No. They are still at the top of their game on the majority of their shows and movies. I'm 3 episodes into Iron Fist and yes, I'm very disappointed. It's Cheesy bad, awful dialogue, pretty sure Finn Jones knows jack shite about Kung-fu, and it seems to be a tad bit over the top day time soap opera. The only good things I see so far are Trinity and Faramir. Everyone is allowed one bad one....this is netflix's one. At least they aren't DC and made 3 shitty things in a row. Be grateful.
