i haven't watched TCM in forever, but if I remember correctly they don't have commercials, so this will be worth a DVR record for later watching.

Can’t wait to see the black lesbian who takes the Clint Eastwood role in this film.

Is Leslie Jones busy??

Love these movies, but this
quote:

Man with No Name Trilogy
has always bothered me.

Joe, Manco and Blondie.

Watched A Fistful of Dollars a few nights ago for the first time ever, and I was pretty disappointed in it. I didn’t hate it, I just didn’t think it was very good really. The acting was bad and the dubbing didn’t help at all with that. I read on Wiki that the spaghetti westerns back then were shot in silent film and then the dialogue and all the other sounds were added later in post. It’s really distracting when the voices don’t even come close to matching with the mouth movements.

I’m hoping the next two are better, as I had pretty high hopes for this one and was pretty disappointed. In the recent western thread, I had chosen like 10-12 classics to watch since I had never really gotten into old westerns before. And Fistful is one that I chose second (after Unforgiven).

Agree. Man with no name better fit Bronson in Once Upon a Time in the West since he was only called harmonica.

Get ready to be disappointed because the one you watched is fantastic.

Manco and Blondie are equivalent to Harmonica.
Manco refers to his gun hand, and Blondie to his hair.
Don’t think Joe is his real name either.

Don't feel bad. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is the only one of them that's really a good movie. But in the 60's Clint's character was the coolest guy on any movie screen, especially if you grew up watching Westerns and War movies.

Currently watching now.

Gotta say this is probably unpopular but For a Few Dollars More is my favorite in the trilogy. I’ve never seen Hang ‘Em High so I’ll try and stay up to watch. Maybe just catch it on their app tomorrow night.

Yeah, imagine if they tried to do a “woke” version with all Asian actors! Hiroyuki Sanada in “the Clint Eastwood role”

They could call it Yojimbo

Last Man Standing with Bruce Willis, Christopher Walker and Bruce Dern was essentially a remake. It officially gave credit to Yojimbo, however.

I've heard that as well. That's why I want to get to that one, but I feel like I can't just jump straight to it and should watch the first two before that one.

Yeah, it's weird that you can sort of feel that when you watch the movie. It's strange. But I get why he was a popular character. And onscreen he is actually pretty fricking cool.

The actors all spoke in their native languages, too. That was how pulpy Italian cinema was in the 70s and 80s. It's the same for their horror and giallo, too.

I like the plot of Fistfull more than For a Few Dollars more, but TGTBTU is the best Western ever, to me (#2 probably being the Wild Bunch).

The first 2 are more regular, contained western plots, but TGTBTU is a full scale epic

Yeah Yojimbo is the OG and it's been ripped off a few times.

Another remake isn't necessarily doomed to failure b/c the whole "playing 2 gangs ruling BFE off each other" is a solid story to work with.

It's the same with Seven Samurai and all its reimaginings
