“Fly ball……..caught”

On a screaming line drive that the infielder had to dive to catch.

While searching for that part of the movie on YouTube, I finally found it and I could not believe how many people in the comment section have a) never watched the movie or b) never even heard of the movie - probably close to 100 people - WTF!

It’s because it came out in 1989 and is 35 y/o. Millennials and Genz won’t watch anything made before the year 2000. Stupid but whatever. I was 16 when that movie came out and loved it. Me watching a 35 y/o movie back then would have been like watching a movie made in 1954. I watched movies that old and older all the time when I was a kid. Not sure what’s wrong with these newer generations.

"Are you tryin' to say Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball?" is still one of the funniest lines I've ever heard in a film.

Ok, Harris, let’s not start a holy war here.

ETA: This is one of a number of really solid baseball movies made in the 80s, but by far the best comedy. I really miss baseball being such a big part of our culture, but all the pro sports aren't what they used to be.

I brushed back my teenaged son (not intentionally, I just suck at pitching) in a father son game one year.
another dad yelled "easy Duke!"

I damn near choked on my sunflower seeds

You were surprised at how many people haven't seen one of the worst sequels of all time?

The OP thinks the sequel is the original.

And the sequel is one of the worst sequels of all time

I always found it hilarious that whenever Harris would say something religious like this, Dorn would act SO put off by it. Like in this scene:

The way he rolls back his head when Harris asks to pray always made me crack up (plus the ill be in my office, wafts paper like he farted, part is hysterical.)

Or in the scene you cite:

Youtube Link

Before the "Jesus christ cant hit a curvevall?" line Harris asks Cerrano to ask Jesus for help instead. When he says that, Dorn peaces out and says, "shite Harris"

Those two must have some kind of history or Dorn really really hates Christianity lol.

Did you think the direct to video sequel was the original? Have you never seen actual Major League?
