If any of yall haven’t heard the audiobooks Harry Lloyd does a tremendous job of reading them

But then you wouldn't get the artwork

The artwork is great throughout.

Favorite part is hearing Aerion call out Hardyng in the voice of Viserys Targaryen.

Lloyd does an awesome job as the narrator.

I also don’t understand why they felt the need to portray Ser Arlan as a total drunkard.
The flashback was set immediately after the Red Grass Field, where Roger of Pennytree died. I think they wanted to depict Ser Arlan as being in a major depression following that loss. When Dunk is following him around, the grave he camps nearby might be Roger's.

ETA: according to streamers, the gibberish Se Arlan is singing is Dothraki.. So he's singing in Dothraki for some reason.

I was thinking this too at first. I figured the story was going to be that finding Dunk gave Ser Arlan a renewed sense of purpose, which would have been a nice touch, but it never played out that way. Maybe they are planning ahead and will flesh it out more next season. As for him speaking Dothraki, that’s news to me. Maybe there’s more to Ser Arlan than we know and we’ll find out in future seasons that he spent time among the Dothraki? I don’t know why else they would have dropped that in there.

The show's linguist posted a translation of the Dothraki song Arlan is singing.

This show had me going down the Targaryen family tree rabbit hole and it got me thinking...

In GoT Robert Baratheon spends an awful lot of time complaining about the "dragon blooded Targaryens" and how he has to stamp out their entire bloodline.... but wasn't his grandma married to a Targaryen king? Wouldn't that make him of the same blood that he's trying to eliminate?

Yes, that was part of why he was crowned. I think he's talking about Dany and Viserys. Otherwise, he'd have to go to war with his pal Jon Arryn as well as Brienne's family.

Flashback scene was lame.

Agree. It was the only time in 5 episodes where the momentum lagged. Especially since it contrasted with what had been building up towards the trial battle.

My hot take for tonight is that MAYBE we get a small Bloodraven cameo to help tie some of these events to the main series for the average watcher. They did it in HOTD

I'm a few drinks in. I have a perception that this is cheap CGI, but also I recognize I'm not the best judge lmao

Couple interesting revelations.

Confirmed he was never knighted.

Odd that they changed Maekor’s decision to let egg squire.

Yeah in the book he gives them the ring to prove his identity and some emergency gold this changes the whole dynamic of their travels.
