Are we sure that’s a real “she?” Kinda looks a little Mulvaney-esque to me…

Write this down: HVAC-as-a-service is the model of the future. Nobody cares about the unit; they pay for cold air to come out of their vents. Just like internet; you pay for connectivity, not a modem.
A few years ago this would have sounded absurd, but you’re probably right. It seems like every industry took it to heart when that German fricker told us “you will own nothing and you will be happy.”

Honorable mention was watching Darren McFadden and Felix Jones (seemingly at the time) dashing our national championship dreams by combining for 385 motherfricking yards rushing.
I have fricking PTSD because of both of these. I also occasionally wake up in the night sweating and screaming “frick you Cam Newton!!”
re: What’s the greatest country song of all time?
Posted by VaultDweller on 7/9/25 at 10:51 pm to GeauxldMember
Man this is a great question but it’s too difficult for me. The best country singer of all time is either George Jones or George Strait. I don’t know which. Next is Alan Jackson, then Randy Travis, then Hank Jr. Since I’m an indecisive prick, i will give you my top song by each artist.
George Jones - She Thinks I Still Care
George Strait - The Cowboy Rides Away
Alan Jackson - Who Says You Can’t Have It All
Randy Travis - I Told You So
Hank Jr. - Weatherman
One of those is the greatest country song of all time.

This threw me off as well. The guy who posted this got it mixed up. The husband is the insurance agent for one of the judges.

I just stumbled on this podcast yesterday and then immediately got his audiobook.
I haven’t started the book yet, but I don’t think Ibrahim is trying to argue that the Romans or the Christians were angels. I think he’s trying to argue that Muslims are not the historical innocent victims that many try to portray them as today. Islam was spread by conquest, and to many in the Muslim world the war has never ended.

I completely agree. There are plenty of other countries with cheap labor who are not trying to supplant the US and who would be happy to manufacture our knick knacks. If we have to outsource some shite, we should at least be sending it to a country that’s not a threat.

Haven’t seen this mentioned, but I seem to remember that all the award organizations (Oscars, Emmys, etc.) have diversity quotas now. So if you want your show to be considered for these awards, you have to diversify your cast. I know that Hollywood doesn’t really need any convincing, but this could be part of the motivation.

There have been a few times in my life when I’ve had a mindless hatred for a person based only on the sound of their voice and their manner of speaking, regardless of what they are actually saying. This is one of those times, and Patricia Millett is one of those people.

Just so happens I was just talking about this phenomenon with my family about an hour ago. There is a family that lives near me and every male in the extended family is a topper. You get three or four of them together in one conversation and shite gets wild.

My thoughts exactly. How many of the Mexican marines are on the cartels’ payroll and will go tell the cartels everything they learn from our special forces? I expect training Mexican troops will be about as effective as the training we did in Afghanistan and Iraq. If we want the cartels dead, we will have to kill them ourselves. Mexico will not do it for us.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I hate to say it, but this sounds very much like autism. It is not unusual for kids with autism to be very intelligent. Does he rarely make eye contact? Does he flap his hands when he gets excited? Or engage in any other types of repetitive movements? Is he an extremely picky eater? Is he having problems with potty training? Does he have little interest in interacting with other kids at daycare? Does he have a great vocabulary but has trouble making complete sentences? Is he sensitive to loud noises? Does he freak out with any minor deviations from his normal routine? These are all signs.
I don’t know what kind of evaluation you got through the school system, but I suggest talking with your pediatrician about a referral for a medical evaluation. A regular pediatrician is not going to be able to diagnose autism, but it’s a good place to start. Sometimes people are hesitant to get a medical evaluation, because they’re worried the child will get put on all kinds of medication. If it’s autism, there is no medication. If it’s something else, you can decide whether or not you give your child the medication. You need to know one way or the other.
I’m glad you don’t seem inclined to follow the advice of those who recommend beating it out of him. I’m a firm believer in whipping kids who need a whipping, but if your child needs help, whipping him will be counter productive. Get the evaluation as soon as possible. If it turns out nothing is wrong, you can whip with a clean conscience.

re: The history of the Gulf of America and why we are just carrying on the renaming game.
Posted by VaultDweller on 2/15/25 at 12:41 pm to Mike da Tigah
Good point. The Gulf of Mexico was coined by white racist colonizers. According to liberals, anything created by white racist colonizers is illegitimate. Trump simply corrected the injustice by adopting a name that reflects the dignity of all inhabitants of North and South America. After all, it’s not like he named it the Gulf of the United States. Anyone who continues to use the dead name “Gulf of Mexico” is committing violence against all non-Mexican people of the Americas, especially the BIPOC community, who are most vulnerable to micro-aggressions.

The scene in The Green Mile where the guy gets electrocuted with a dry sponge was pretty rough. Maybe not the most gruesome, but quite disturbing nonetheless.

some people are just miserable There is absolutely 0 reason to aggressively hate this girl to the point where you are essentially calling her a worthless whore
You sir, are a man of reason and sense among this rabble. I understand people not being enamored with Livvy, but the level of animosity she gets around here is insane. She’s not the most beautiful woman in the world or the greatest gymnast in the world. So what?! She’s extremely good looking, and she’s a good enough gymnast to have a spot on a national championship gymnastics team. I’m willing to bet that Livvy Dunne is better at gymnastics than 99.99% of her haters will ever be at anything in their lives.
This notion that she doesn’t deserve whatever fame or fortune she has makes no sense to me. When did we start hating on people for capitalizing on their looks? Is posting revealing pictures of yourself on social media somehow more trashy than posing on a red carpet in a see through dress in front of 100 paparazzi? Does it make you more of an attention whore? I don’t see a distinction.
Also, what are the qualifications to be grand marshal of Endymion? I always thought you just had to be a famous person, preferably with some sort of connection to Louisiana, who the crowd would like to see ride by on a float. Livvy seems to meet that criteria. Am I missing something?

In some pics (the AI looking ones) she kinda looks like the older daughter from Modern Family after a reaction to the Covid vax. But yeah she fine, Euro trash vibe and all.
