When the prosecution gives their opening statement they tell the jury their theory of the case. I assume the prosecution told the jury the payments were called legal expenses but they were actually campaign expenses, therefore the records were false. It was then up to the jury to decide whether that...

Does anyone know why I can’t find this opinion on the LA Supreme Court’s website? The article says it was issued Thursday May 30, but the court’s website shows no action that date. When I search by defendant’s name it doesn’t turn up. It makes me inordinately angry when reporters write about a court...

I think your memory is combining two different trilogies into one. I'm not familiar with The Iron Tower Trilogy, but the second part of your description sounds like The Wishsong of Shannara, which is the third book in the original Shannara Trilogy by Terry Brooks. There is a character named Garet ...
