Sam is the real hero in all of this. If not for Sméagol biting Frodo’s finger off Frodo would’ve tried to get away with the ring. A real selfish pos imo. Sam saved Frodo many times with less selfish desires

Is this a troll? You do realize there was a reason why Frodo became “selfish” right?

The ring was starting to corrupt him

So? Does it make my point that Sam was the real hero any less valid? Frodo would be a Sméagol if not for Sam

Well he did have the whole benefit of the ring not corrupting him. It would’ve been the other way around had Sam had possession of the ring. They were both heroes. Frodo for bearing the burden of carrying the ring and Sam for helping carry Frodo.

Hopefully that satisfies your need for attention.

No Sam is the hero because he and Aragon where the only two the resisted the evil of the ring completely.

It's a gay power thing.

I may not be able to carry the ring Mr. Frodo, but I can carry you.

They’re both heroes. Frodo contesting Sauron’s evil primarily spiritually and Sam primarily physically by supporting Frodo.

They make it very apparent that there is no person capable of resisting the ring from Gandalf down to Samwise. Some have the foresight of refusing to deal with it (Gandalf and Aragon because they know they are susceptible)

Sam did have possession of the ring and he gave it back. Regardless it’s a moot point. Ring isn’t destroyed without Sam. And imo Frodo needed Sam more than Sam needed Frodo

It was Sam's love for Frodo that made him follow Frodo around and help him. The true moral of thr story is how the power of love can overcome anything.

I don’t think any LotR fan is would argue against Sam the true hero. He’s the best.

Faramir also is never tempted by the ring.

Can't wait for the new trilogy of LOTR books where we learn Samwise has become a drunk and beats Rosie ):

I never saw it this way, Frodo was more of a "reluctant hero", and Samwise was as well, but then grew more into the role. Lord of the Rings I think was ultimately about the hobbits, and how such humble creatures could play such major roles in the darkest of times.

I never saw LOTR as a standard hero vs villain tale necessarily, a lot at play, especially when you consider Aragorn and Gandalf's roles.

Frodo and Sam are both heroes. The ring doesn't get destroyed without both of them
