Yeah I know the Church had a whole bunch of religious icons from various faiths, but how many of those have a purgatory type belief?

You have to sit through 30 torturous minutes of Hawthorne to get to the good stuff...common LOST theme.

IMO people are reading into the plane at the end too much.

Excuse me but the whole show has been about reading into the smallest little things.

Exactly. That's why the crash was a big "F-You."

The creators are d-bags. That was apparent from the interview, especially Cuse.

so the writers basically just lied about it being purgatory

The Island was not purgatory. The flash-sideways was.

I know there are a lot of nits to pick, but was it really fricking necessary for Desmond to hit Locke with the car in purgatory?

desmond hitting locke led to jack operating on him, and thus jack and locke "remembering"

It was an "exclusive" purgatory. "They" made it.

It seems that is the case but fricking seriously?

The point of Jack's heroism is that he "saved the afterlife" by reigniting the light. The writers just were vague in conveying it. What we are seeing in season 6 in the sideways flash was that he was successful before we even knew it.

well considering they had no idea they would write in a "flash sideway" when they were denying the purgatory ending makes this argument weak

I think a lot of you missed the point. Everyone was dead by the time the plane crashed. There were no survivors of Oceanic 815. The most important times of their lives were spent together on the island, which was a venue upon which they could right their wrongs. Purgatory, if you will.

The last shot of the show was not a red herring at all.

I hate to bring this up, but . . .

What the frick happened to Desmond on the island?

Sawyer, Kate, Claire, Lapidus, Miles, and Richard get off.

Jack dies.

Hurley and Ben stay to protect the island.

Desmond????

the light is open to interpretation.

Somebody explain that hole to hell in the island and I'll be satisfied with the ending. It's the real timeline I'm pissed about.

what kind of an explaination are you looking for?

so when the writers say they knew the ending did they just mean jack closing his eyes.
