Did someone really Just type lost was a show about nothing......
At the Very least it was a show that tried to bring am understanding that death isn't the end, and that what you do in life echoes into death.
I honestly think humans are starting to go the way of that movie idiocracy.

so the writers basically just lied about it being purgatory
they're going to say the ISLAND wasn't purgatory
which this ending to me signals that the ISLAND was intended to be purgatory, but show caught fire everyone guessed it and they had to change it cause it was to simple and had to extend the show.
The sideverse was a their own little injoke at getting their original intentions back

Exactly. The people who left on the jet were alive and died off the island.
But the show was still "about" purgatory in a round about way.

Didn't see that ending coming.
A little disappointed with the ending of the island plot, but the alternate reality/afterlife ending was unexpected.

idk if the recap has it but either go watch that if you don't want to spend a month of your life or so, but sayid and shannon where in love, then she was actually killed by anna lucia and he lost her
I know but they gave the character two love interests. Shannon was a love interest because the writers had to give her death some emotional impact so they had her have sex with Sayid. The other they established as a life-long love affair.

i loved the final scene, but don't like how they never explained where lapidus was taking them.

I still don't know what the frick MIB was supposed to be or how his power was taken away from him.
i agree with this...MIB-jacob seem superfluous to how it ended (and i thought it was goin to be the opposite)

I still have no idea what made the island special and what kind of plutonium that light was supposed to be.
Somebody explain that hole to hell in the island and I'll be satisfied with the ending. It's the real timeline I'm pissed about.
i think the lack of any attempt to even try to explain the island is telling

The island didn't exist in "their purgatory".
I know this....
The island time is completely seperate from their purgatory time.
So the open scene we saw with the island under water could have been in 2050 or somewhere in the future after Hurley and Ben left the island.... But they ended up in purgatory because that is where they were supposed to meet.

You guys are at it again. Making definitive declarations about a show that NEVER made anything definitive.

frick that, at the most this show was about how to keep a circle jerk going for 6 years

So i guess the basic summary of the episode is as follows:
There was no split timeline. Jack died on the island. Kate, Sawyer, Lupidus, Miles all flew the jet off the island and lived their lives after they got back to civilization. Hurley served as protector of the island, and Ben served as his aide. When they all died at their various times, they then went to "purgatory" which we know as sideways world. When they were "ready" in "purgatory" they realized what had happened and were ready to move on. So they all did. No telling how long that took. Remember, "There is no now here, Jack" per Christian.
Christian says the time Jack spent with them was the "most important time of his life."
Kate says "I've missed you" because she presumably lived without Jack for a time after leaving the island.
Hurley tells Ben he was a great number 2 because they actually served on the island in the real world for a time.
Ben tells Locke he doesn't need the wheelchair. He didn't need the wheelchair (or PT to learn to walk) because it wasn't real.
Ben tells Hurley he's not ready yet because he's got "more stuff to work out" before he can move on. This is a traditional purgatory motif. Similarly, Ana Lucia and Daniel Farraday are not ready to move on.
Farraday's mom asks Desmond if he is taking Daniel along. His response: I'm not taking him.
Conclusion: The island was real; sidewaysville was "purgatory".

Er.... did Sayid really deserve to move on? Of the island was real, he was even more cold blooded on the Island than when he worked for the guard.
debatable...he did however sacrifice himself in the sub in an attempt to save everyone else

What the hell is Hurley supposed to be still protecting the island from?

They weren't superfluous until the writers made them that way. They WERE good characters at one point.
Why make them human??!? That was stupid. Stupid.

Why was the Island under water in the alt-timeline? Was there a point to that? Or was it just to throw everyone off at the beginning of the season?
This was the give away that they were dead in the "alt" time line. Recall how all through season six they were saying that if the Monster leaves, ie the island is sunk, everyone dies. By showing the island under water, there is no more "spark" of life.
