Agreed, it came after the "LOST" flash on the screen and during the credits....

Think it was just a tribute

Did they fail in trying to duplicate the sopranos WTF moment?

I get everything in the side flash was purgatory and the island was probably real, but why the plane?

Did they just stick that in the end to give us the finger?

I don't get the confusion. I think they were just showing that the island is all quiet now. The show ended with Jack closing his eyes and showing the wreckage of the initial plane wreck.

It could have been more of the "It ends how it started" angle they were playing at. The last clips were of the original plane crash.

Then don't show it. Simple as that. Make it a bonus on the DVD.

Slo, not everything is cut and dry.

they purposefully made the show so obtuse that this is their fault

the stuff that kept you turning in every week was a ruse

Good to see Sayid made it to the light. Wish the dog had shown up in the church and moved on with them.

I agree with you. I don't think it was supposed to mean anything.

I liked the finale and thought it was about the only way you could end it.

I took that as the original plane crash. Kind of a "this is where they lived" final shot.

yeah... i took it as a 'this is what brought them together' scene.

Maybe they figured people could figure out that the show was actually done when LOST flashed on the screen, just like the 120 episodes before it

The only thing I'm really wondering about is:

Why was the Island under water in the alt-timeline? Was there a point to that? Or was it just to throw everyone off at the beginning of the season?

About the island being purgatory?

The island wasn't purgatory.

I'm still not totally sure what I think. Overall, I think the show lost its way after the second season but it was still an entertaining six years. Incoherent, but entertaining.

I get that is what the writers were implying. I just didn't buy it.

If you want to get technical they said the island wasn't purgatory.

Unless later they also said it in reference to the Season 6 alt timeline, in which case idk.
