I love that split second smirk on Desmond's face.

yes. It's been kinda mentioned. Not sure if there is anything important about it though. What do you make of it?
I don't think anything of it other than there being parallels between the candidates/prospects/contestants unknowingly vying for the keys to the castle..

I get this funny feeling that blowing up the plane is exactly what MIB wants, although I don't exactly know why yet. I think it has to do with the fact that a major theme in this show has been coercion. Seems like every other episode someone was getting another person to do his will without letting them know that they were doing it (make them think it was their own idea). Exactly what Ben did to Locke when Locke blew up the submarine.
I just can't get over the Hurley/Alpert split and believing that Locke wants everyone to think that is his plan is to use the plane so everyone will try and blow that thing up. After they succeed in blowing up the plane, FLocke is going to give us one of those evil genius looks he's so good at.

My thoughts...
1) Notice that all of the demolition crew members are not candidates. Could indicate a lot of things...
2) Why was Jack tripping balls when he looked at Flocke? He and Flocke seemed to have a connection or something.
3) Desmond hit Alt-Locke with his car. Was this for him to have an "experience"? Or (maybe a stretch) was this because he knew something more? I ask this because in the Island-timeline Flocke had just threw him in a well, but he was not yet aware that Flocke was not Locke.
4) Bye bye Ilana. Lost cracks me up when characters show up with a seemingly-huge purpose, only to die soon-after.
5) Did the well still have the donkey wheel?

I don't think mib has any use for the plane. He is trying to kill the candidates without directly doing it. He is just letting them be put in situations where they can be killed through there own actions. Once they are all dead he will finally be able to leave te island via the old donkey wheel.

Oh yeah, I too, thought the whispers reveal was weak sauce.
i don't understand why you all think that was weak.
yall are reminding me of the movie "Se7en". when freeman is telling pitt that the bad guy is going to disappoint him because he is imagining the devil, when really its just a man.
i thought the explaination was fine.

so yeah who ever came up with that theory is crazy.
not really. i don't think its correct but it isn't the worst theory i have heard.

so is this split personality also able to split into two people becuase we clearly see MIB and Jacob talking to each other.
i am imagining something like Fight Club here.

If jacob was just an altered personality of MIB then why would he want to kill jacob it would be like killing himself in a way.
just wants to kill that part of himself.
i know, that was my second Brad Pitt movie reference. i might have a problem.

I wouldn't even think of calling it epic. Not bad, just not mind blowing.
i think it was one of my favorite episodes. shite just kept happening. questions were answered. jack became a good character. and we are seeing desmond in action.

my first reaction was that it was directly caused by locke throwing him down the well. but it could easily be to have locke have an "experience". i don't know. but i loved it. that was "Meet Joe Black" exceptional. (to stick with the brad pitt theme)

without a doubt. you knew it was coming but it was still like, did they really just kill her off?

Ben said it best - she let them know they were candidates and then the island was done with her

yup, and then the "makes me wonder whats going to happen when the island is done with us".

I brought this up earlier and didn't get a response. But there is no mention of Hurley winning the lottery in the alt timeline. I thought he said it in on the plane, but maybe he was being figurative.

Seemed he got his money all through owning Mr. Cluckers and expanding it worldwide. Mr. Cluckers did not get hit with an asteroid in this reality.

It may have been a figurative lottery. He may just be saying that he's a lucky guy.

I've got a feeling that Ben will die in the end because he decide to go back to the DHARMA camps.
Also, did anyone notice how angry MIB was when the teenage looking kid (Jacob) how'd up. "Ignore HIM!"

He sure seemed to be enjoying MIB's struggles.

That kid has dark brown hair.
This kid has light blonde hair.
Unless the mysterious properties of the island can cause a change in a person's hair color, I don't think the kid we saw last night should be considered as the "same" kid we saw earlier in the season.
If it's really a matter of the makeup or lighting causing the difference, then some of the LOST production crew needs a good kicking to the teeth.
IMO we're supposed to notice the difference in hair color. Either the kids are twins or they are two "sides" of the same kid.

I don't know if I'm ready to go there with it yet. I came to two conclusions based on both times he's shown up.
First, the kid looks older since the first time he showed up. It's as if he's aging faster than normal. Second, MIB didn't like either one.
I still think it's a young Jacob and until we find out something else more definitive, I'm going to keep believing that. This is based on 1) him discussing the rules the first time he showed up, 2) the little grin he gave MIB last night as if to say, "I'm winning" and 3)MIB obviously doesn't like the kid. The only person we've seen MIB show outright disgust for was Jacob.
Plus the young actor(s) look a lot like Jacob and absolutely nothing like the MIB we've seen on the beach.
