Michael Giacchino‘s score is the GOAT for television and I don’t think it is close.
The last piece - Moving On - is a culmination of all motifs, and doesn’t end with the usual haunting quick burst to warn us about the next episode, it just (finally) trails off.

Yeah, LOST is still Giacchino’s magnum opus and they really lucked out getting him.

Great show. There were periods in season 2 and 3 where we got some filler episodes but once they got to season 4 and the shorter seasons I thought it was easier to watch.

Fantastic show with a terrific ending. Hated to see it end.
This. Completely polarizing finale for whatever reason. People either loved it or hated it, with seemingly no in between.
I’m in the “loved it” camp. Incredible show. And while there were some gripes I had about the final season, I thought it ended about as perfectly as it could have. Amazing show/experience.

I'm jealous of the ride you are going on
Posted on 9/7/24 at 1:47 pm to TeddyPadillac
Forget about everything you have heard about the show and the ending. Just keep an open mind and love this ride.
It is fantastic and is going to jerk you left to right
Like Westcoast said, I am jelly of your ride

I don’t care if every question wasn’t answered or if Walt grew 3 feet in a summer and Carlton and Lindelof didn’t know what to do with him.

My biggest issue with this is that a lot of shite was actually answered. It’s just that people didn’t like the answers. Because sometimes the answer was just that the island was a magical place. That was good enough for me. But a lot of people hated that.

I mean, what the Island actually is is explained in the show.

Finally finished the series last night. Wife was started to get aggravated with me constantly watching it to finish it, but i was sucked in and needed to finish.
I think people forget sometimes that you don't know what's going on offscreen, and that can affect a show. Things like a certain actor for whatever reason not liking what he's doing and wanting off the show, then that creates a problem with writing them off and the viewer left with some unanswered questions possibly. Michael and Mr. Ecko are two that come to mind. Mr. Ecko was awesome but supposedly didn't want to continue with the show so the writers were forced to kill him off.
There's so many characters and so many great arcs, but i think the one i like the most was Jin's. He was my favorite character. Kate was probably my least favorite of the many main characters. There really wasn't much about her that changed throughout the show. But she sure was hot, as was many of the women on this show who seemed to all have to show some cleavage at all times. It's funny how when the Man in Black was talking about how stupid John was, it pissed me off that he was talking about him like that, and i liked when Jack finally told him to basically shut the frick up and stop disrespecting John's name. John Locke's path throughout this show was certainly an entertaining ride. Extremely well written character. Sawyer as well.
Once you realize and accept that the island is mystical, it makes it easier to accept some of the unreasonable things happening there.
I'm not a religious person at all, and this show obviously has a deep religious aspect to it, but i thoroughly enjoyed how it ended. Everyone is given a chance to redeem themselves. Nothing is irreverseible, which is somethign that is said on the show a few times and argued whether things that happened are in fact irreversible or not. One of the better quotes from this show i think is when Hurley tells Sayid just b/c people tell him he's a bad man (for the obvious bad things he's done in his life), doesn't mean he has to continue to be a bad man, or that he's still bad.
I think one of the main messages, at least that i got from the show, is that what happens to you in life shapes who you are and who you become and you can't change the past. The past is irreversible. Who you are as a person isn't irreversible, and everyone has a chance to redeem themselves, no matter what their past is like.
One of the things that did bother me though was not knowing the name of the Man in Black. Given the fact that I picked up on other peoples names and their signficance, I wanted to know his name.
Ben Linus's name he used on his passport when he landed in Tunisia was Moriarty, who is the villain in Sherlock Holmes and was written specifically to kill Sherlock Holmes to end that story when Sir Arther Conan Doyle was ready to stop writing about Sherlock Holmes. Seemed fitting to me as he was obviously the villain on the island.
Jacob is an obvious biblical name, founder of Israel. Characters name makes sense here.
Daniel Faraday is named after the famous physicist who studied electromagnatism and basically led the groundwork for the invention of the electric motor. When i heard the name Faraday i remembered from my engineering classes "faraday's constant", which was part of some equation i don't specifically remember anymore, but i enjoyed the link of Daniel telling Desmond he need to find the "constant" so that he'd stop time traveling randomly.
Christian Sheppard, obvious name of the guy who opens the door to lead everyone into the light in the finale.
Just seems like they put some thought into those characters names as well as others, and i wanted a name for the man in black. I expected somethign that would tie back to some type of fallen angel.
and i cant imagine having to wait 7 years to finish this show.
I came away thinking this was without a doubt one of the best shows i've ever watched.

The death of Jack (though we know he lives on - and moves on with his friends) is one of the most heart-wrenching, emotional endings in television history. It’s beautifully acted and directed, and the score (that glorious score) is booming, as Jack lies on his back, watching his friends leave the island on a plane, and this unbridled, unselfish act (what he was always meant to do) culminates in his eye closing for the last time.
Truly a classic.
Ending the way it started was so awesome. I honestly hated for that show to end

I hate Anna Lucia.
I hated the random couple they tried to make important in one of the middle seasons. I think one was an actress or something.

I only watched two episodes, the first and last, both when they aired.
No ragrets.
I watched the first episode at Jon's house with Frank, randomly. I don't remember what we were all doing over there that night.

It is my #1. I cant explain it and I have watched almost every major series out there but I got connected with that show and its characters more than any other show.
I have probably watched it 15 times, start to finish. Could start another rewatch right now if I wasnt already doing another one.
Just loved it

Would create a thread, but today is the 20th anniversary of the crash of Oceanic 815.

Doing a rewatch and i am on season 2, the episode Shannon dies. In all my rewatches this is the first time it dawned on me that the car accident that Jacks wife Sarah was in when he meets her was the same accident that killed Shannon's dad. Not sure how I didn't pick up on that until now
