Politard try-hards on suicide watch because people went and saw the black mermaid.

Imagine being as fragile as these figs.

They said it made 95 mil. I don't see how that's all that great a thing when it will likely have a huge dropoff net week because of big competition.

Also, attendance might drop off if people keep brawling in the theaters.

Fights are breaking out at The Little Mermaid screenings all across America.

US is pulling its weight in BO sales but the movie is tanking overseas.

In China, The Little Mermaid brought in just $2.5 million through Sunday.

Woah.

In a country of nearly 1 1/2 Billion people, that is really bad.

I thought they were doing a retelling from the point of view of Flounder, but y'all are telling me that's Ariel? Holy shite.

I can’t imagine how much loud talking is going on theaters during the movie.

And how many of those knew they were going to rate it that before they even saw it? And most probably didn’t.

Damn that’s bad. That’s more like a song that would have come out for The Little Mermaid 4 - direct to VHS.

The domestic numbers for this are okay, but it is tanking overseas big time. I think it needs about 750M to break even. We'll see...

No, it doesn't. The box office is disappointing, but to say it needs 750 just to break even is simply absurd.

You're right. I was thinking it had a 300M budget all in, but it looks like it is only 250M so that's 625M needed to break even using the 2.5 multiplier.

The budget was $200 mil. with about $150 mil in marketing, so it needs $350 mil. to break even. That sounds easy, but it's made 115-ish so far and it gets some heavy competition starting next week.

No one aside from Disney knows what the actual budget is. Studios are also pros at fudging numbers. Read up on Hollywood accounting practices.

There's no doubt Disney will be disappointed with the box office that might struggle to get to 600 mil. But I highly doubt they'll actually lose money on it.

That's not how it works. Movie theaters only give a portion of the money from ticket sales back to the studio so it takes a lot to break even if it is a big-budget film. That's where the 2.5 multiplier comes in to figure out the break even point.

Variety and a bunch of other outlets say a $250 budget so I'm going with that number. If they don't know what they are talking about then none us do either.

Disney with the fake numbers. Such a dishonest company.
