some divergent storyline from 1989 besides having Ariel, rather than Eric, steer the ship into Ursula’s side.
1. I don’t think you realize what the definition of ‘live-action adaptation’ is.
2. The moral of the movie, don’t judge a person based on their group, breaks down if Ariel plows Ursula instead of Eric.

This is actually a real song from the movie:
Why did someone decide Awkafina (sp?) was a star? Who the frick decided to let her sing?

There is absolutely no way y'all's gloating will possibly age poorly.
Any updates from the sunshine pumpers on this? We still thinking Little Mermaid is going to break even?

It's a great question. She's not attractive and she's not funny.

It looks like it dropped 58% for week 2. Just barely missing the dreaded 60% mark.
They are spinning the overseas market numbers though. They are saying it only dropped 34% overseas which sounds great, but it only made $42MM internationally this past weekend. That’s not good.

That's like funneling boiling diarrhea into your ear canals.
If that song is actually in the movie, then anyone defending this movie is not a serious person.
I thought this response might have been a little dramatic. I went back and found HG's post and clicked the link. My ears are bleeding now. Thanks.

Holy frick, I just went and found it too. Who thought incoherent rambling into a microphone was a good idea for a song?

there have been changes to bring the story to the “real world”,
Like mermaids singing underwater, and piloting a ship for the first time flawlessly during a storm? That real world?
Its a myth, a work of fiction, and not part of our world. It screams 'changes arent needed to make it more realz'

She checks a couple of woke boxes, which to them is even better than any of that other stuff.

I saw it tonight and thought I would try and give an honest opinion on the movie.
First thing that surprised me when I walked into the theater was the number of people there, and not particularly in a good way. Last Tuesday I went to the same theater, on a Tuesday, around the same time, to go see Guardians 3. That movie had been about about 3 weeks at the time, this one about two weeks, and Guardians had FAR more people at my screening.
So the movie itself, while I’m not itching to sit through all 135 minutes of it again, I didn’t think it was a bad movie. It was enjoyable, but it was a pretty much shot by shot recreation of the animated movie so I guess that shouldn’t be too surprising.
The visuals of the film were super inconsistent. The CGI of the sisters and Triton the first time we meet them was laughably bad and I thought to myself during that scene that this wasn’t a good sign. There were times during the movie that the visuals and CGI were really good, and other times they were really bad. Aside from the floating hair you really wouldn't have been able to tell they were underwater if wasn’t for the background.
I usually like Bardem and don’t like McCarthy, but that kind of flip flopped for this movie. Bardem isn’t what I pictured in Triton at all but McCarthy played a solid Ursula. Tip of the cap to the girl that played Vanessa as well. She was really good. I hated the look of the mermaids. The scaly bras and all that. There was also some pretty evident representation in this movie, they were clearly trying to check all the boxes.
Halle Bailey, even aside from the white vs black thing, doesn’t look the part of Ariel what so ever. And what I mean by that is regardless of skin color Ariel should be gorgeous and bless her heart but Bailey isn’t that. I actually thought she played a good Ariel though, just didn’t have the look for it. It was most evident in her water scenes for me, oddly. She was more appealing and believable in the land scenes.
