so I'm sick at home and the remote is too far for me to bother getting up.

Dennis the Menace is on and I'm going to go ahead and say that this movie is in the Home Alone universe.

The first clue is that the same old couple that Mrs. McCallister buys her tickets from is friends with Mr. Wilson at his gardening club. She isn't wearing her dangly earrings so perhaps her husband finally put his foot down after getting stuck in an airport on Christmas.

Next, there is the kid that is dating Dennis' sister. He comes to help her baby sit Dennis. While he identifies himself as Mickey at the door he reveals who he truly is later on. First, when he is reading it is revealed that he is not very good at it. He can't even pronounce the word "sobbed" correctly. Remember, there is a certain bully brother who was dumb as rocks in Home Alone as well.

When he is trying to make out with her later that night Dennis starts ringing the doorbell to disrupt them. The boyfriend has the idea to tape a thumbtack to the doorbell button. His idea is that whoever is ringing the doorbell will get a tack to the finger. (Mr Wilson suffers the pain)

Where would a person come up with such an idea? Obviously he remembered his little sadist brother Kevin had done similar things in the past. Mickey is in fact the given name of Buzz. He is trying to replicate little bros moves but fails b/c he is a fool.

The final clues are the ability to deal with extreme physical punishment people in this world have and the bumbling crook played by Christopher Lloyd. Switchblade Sam is just another hapless victim of a terrifying monster child. If he had just read the papers about the fate of the Wet Bandits perhaps he wouldn't have been bested by hell child.

That was a well thought out response.

I think most of your stuff is good to go, but I have a friend who is a Home Alone Expert. I'll see if he can come in and verify.

Love it.

Mr. Wilson with the Chiclets teeth had me laughing until tears were streaming.

That and "tastes like paint."

Does Kevin end up getting the old neighbor's granddaughter pregnant at sixteen?

I think the movie forshadowed her future pregnancy in the church scene when the old man tells Kevin that he's watching his granddaughter sing in the choir, he points her out to Kevin, the little redhead girl glances over and gives Kevin a coy smile that has strong hints of future sexual desire.

Then, right after that scene Kevin runs home to prepare the house for the burglars. Watch the TV in the background as he's placing toys on the floor. A commercial is playing of a pregnant redheaded 16 year old girl and she smiles just like the little redheaded girl in the choir did...

I think it's a foregone conclusion that Kevin's parents end up going through a horribly bitter divorce, and it probably happens inside of a year after HA2. They've already spent one Christmas apart, and it's quite obvious they hate each other. Kevin's mom is terrible, but I don't think Peter gets enough flack for being a horrible husband and father.

Heck, even in the Paris airport, he's like "meh, how about you fly halfway across the world by yourself, we're going to go crash at my brother's place. See ya!"

Not to mention the fact that in HA2, his response to her leaving the hotel to look for Kevin is essentially "you want roam around New York City by yourself in the middle of the night? Have fun!" Let's not forget that this is dangerous, pre-Giuliani New York. He's basically chilling in a baller suite in the Plaza while she's risking her life trying to find Kevin.

Also, while Kevin being left behind in Home Alone is completely the mom's fault because she left him upstairs, Kevin getting lost at O'Hare in HA2 is totally on Peter for just running away from him. Yeah, don't worry about making sure your 8 year old son is behind you in one of the busiest airports in the world at peak season, just assume he's with you step-for-step. "I don't see him anywhere on the plane...meh, he probably made it."

What a horrendous person.

Not necessarily horrendous. Just checked out of the whole situation. Peter is more complex than a simple "bad person." It's long been a known that Peter McAllister has been having a multi-year affair with his young secretary. Before you write this off as simple further evidence of his debauchery consider the 2 driving facts behind Peter's behaviour.

1. His wife is a horrid count. She is mean, forgetful, money-grubbing, neglectful, and accusatory to everyone else at all times. Her errant behaviour has done nothing but drive a wedge between Peter and her since the first child. I also don't blame this entirely on her though. I don't think it was a general personality trait, but more a result of her child rearing years. She obviously had a physically absent father, and an abusive mother. When she began with her own children she didn't have the correct tools for upbringing. Hence their constant bickering. She was only so lucky as to have married a wealthy McAllister and have the luxury of a upper class lifestyle to aid in the raising of the children. Had she married down a class I fear one of her children would have died in youth.

2. Peter is the middle child of an extremely successful younger brother, and a tight-wad poor of an older brother. Although Peter has had much success in his corporate life, he can never quite catch the youngest, and is in charge of keeping the oldest above water. The stress of the constant tug-of-war coupled with his wife's cold touch have driven him to cheat and drink.

The stress of holding all of this together has caused him to neglect Kevin at times, and not care at others. He simply has too much on his plate. I'm surprised he hasn't been in intensive therapy for decades.

What's up with the weirdo concierge at the hotel in HA2? Why's he so obssessed with a 10 year old boy? That initial conversation between him and the bellhop should've gone like this:

Concierge: "Find out everything you can about that boy."
Cedrick the bellhop: "WTF? I'm calling the cops."

Watching it for the first time of the holidays.

Forgetting the fact that they let a cousin head count the amount of kids before leaving the house (just count your own damn kids)why does kevins mom know she left him? The head count was correct, she at that point wouldve assumed he showed up.

I always assumed kevin ended up with the store cashier he stole the toothbrush from. She seemed curious about him and impressed by his confidence. Total alpha

You gotta have you shite straight if you want to effectively analyze these films. Toothbrush incident was from a small mom and pop pharmacy type place. Cashier was at the grocery store.

I wish I could be in the pharmacy so I could say:
"Hey you decrepit old hag, hate to pull you away from your crossword puzzle, sorry to think you'd actually be of service to one of your customers while you're on the clock, but could you tell me where the batteries are. That is if you can still see straight after rolling your eyes at every customer who has a simple question. I know, it's a burden to be one of the most despicable people in a story about despicable people. Here's my money so you can buy a new crosswords book you miserable bitch."

Or something like that. Haha that scene was just on.

The clerk who chases him for the toothbrush is INSANELY over-zealous. It's like they just turned a starving dog loose on a rabbit.

Watching it yesterday, I never realized when the pizza guy delivered the 10 pizzas at the beginning, the whole family just started eating and sat down and had dinner before they even paid the dude.

Guy was just standing inside waiting to get paid while they all devoured 10 pizzas. Typical rich people.

Leaving Kevin in Home Alone 2 gets a lot worse if you think about the week or 2 following the events of HA1. People start coming home from their vacations realizing their homes have been robbed and their basements flooded. Even the self-absorbed McCallisters would have a tough time not hearing stories about these terrible robberies. So, even though Kevin is not telling the story of his heroic home defense, you can come to a conclusion based on every other house in the neighborhood being robbed. Also, the broken treehouse, Buzz's room (even though it happened prior to the attempted robbery), the tar on the basement steps (Kevin isn't cleaning that up in one night), etc are all indications something happened.

These people should have a leash on Kevin at all times. He was home by himself during a time in which every home in the neighborhood was broken into. They should have gone crazy from guilt, let alone allowing it to happen again so easily.
