The thing he needs to snap out of it is for his dad to tell him to go pursue MALIK’S dreams. Not forcing him into the thing that’s depressing him. He might be talented enough to play baseball. He probably isn’t but shite. Football is not going to happen. Let the kid do what he wants with his life instead of helicopter dad telling him what to do.
Anyways, that’s what I love about the show. The social discussions etc it creates.

So a kid actually get an offsides on a 1st and 10. But we're going to edit it so it looks like the kid jumped offsides on 4th and 2.
I think I noticed that happening about once or twice. They made a big deal about a penalty but you can noticed quickly in the back that the down marker has like 1st down but they cut it to be like 3rd and short.
I don't watch the show for those situations though so that doesn't really bother me. I do keep it in the back of my mind though.

JB ended up actually winning me over a bit toward the end. I actually feel pretty bad for Malik, even though I'd never want him anywhere near a football team I supported. He's clearly a cancer, but he's a product of his environment just as much as Bobby Bruce is. That's actually a pretty interesting character study, to compare how the two kids were raised in extremely different environments, but both are broken as hell.
I felt the same way, JB is a jackass but I think he realized he needed to turn it down some. This is the longest HC job he had and is not trying to burn more bridges.

Are you insinuating that most elite D-1 players act like Malik?
Honestly, I think that we’d be surprised if we knew how many elite players, especially coming out of high school, are kind of scumbags. I’m not saying it’s all of them of course, but way more than you’d expect. And the amount of bullshite a coach will put up with is directly proportional to how good the player is, and how deep the roster is.

shite I’ve noticed they even show scores out of order to add drama. It was season one or two when I had looked at a box score before one of the game segments and they showed scoring plays out of order and made the game look closer to add suspense
Just came across another one for season 3.
In the game against Hutch they show Calvin Jackson make a great catch in then endzone. They make it look like it was a Touchdown to put ICC up 24-10. However the score to put them up 24-10 was a 1 yard Malik run. The catch from Jackson was a 2PC to put them up 17-3

They are equally bad for different reasons
Buddy actually tries to be a legit coach and run a program. JB doesnt and acts like hes smart for doing so
JB for all his fault, doesnt seem like a legitimately bad person. Buddy was an awful person with absolutely no redeeming personal qualities.
I really dont know what's worse
I like JB much more than Buddy
at least he is real about who he is
Posted on 7/24/18 at 9:52 pm to StraightCashHomey21
Buddy is a much better coach in my opinion..and a little fatter

I have a small ounce of sympathy for Malik. It really seems like he doesn’t want to play football. It sounded like baseball was his love, and he was pretty good, but his father said no because he saw dollar signs.
His dad is an idiot
rather my kids make big bucks playing baseball and not in the NFL with contracts that are not even guaranteed

I think JB cares for the kids for the most part but I think he's dealing with a lot of demons from his upbringing and it kinda manifests itself when he talks about his cars, his "beach house"
He doesn't have a relationship with his daughter, no dating prospects, every interview he's sipping whiskey or some other drink, history of physical altercation with former boss, etc.
I think he puts up a façade but I think he does have empathy for his players. I also don't think he's as lazy as he looked the first few episodes

JB seems like he is trying to help the kids get better than what he had growing up.
Buddy is just a narcissistic a-hole but that kinda works on the JUCO level

JB is to coaching what his players are to College Football. He's got the some talent and the mindset to work with these broken kids, but its buried under a shitty person. Just like the players have the talent, but its overshadowed by their terrible upbringing or personal choices.
Personally, I cant get over how he treats some people. Cursing, calling someone an idiot, all that is no big deal. The cursing out of coaches in front of players. Cursing out and challenging players like he's as ghetto as them. The way hea constantly fake kicking everyone (players and coaches) off his team when it's not going his way. Plus the complete and total chaos that is the sidelines/play calling. He's just got too much shite in his way to be considered a good coach. I cant imagine playing sports on a team in that environment.
I never played football (baseball guy), but my dad coached high school all my life and I grew up on the sidelines as a ball boy. Even crappy high school football coaches had it more together than they did. And when they had superior talent, they won the state championship. When they didn't, they sucked bad. Just goes to show, when you have studs, it doesn't matter nearly as much. This guy got the studs, he offers very little more to the equation.

When I was like 12 years old I had coaches dropping f bombs at us

Its called cancer within a program. Players respond to your demeanor. Its almost unbearable to watch.. I understand what he's doing but to punk his coaches in front of the players is absurd

Again, I grew up on the sidelines. Cursing and getting on you for doing something wrong isn't crazy. Hell, my baseball coach in high school was really religious and wouldn't curse and we always thought it was odd that he refused to get on us for certain stuff. But the personal attacks, the way he wants to fight, and getting on other coaches is over the line and different than anything I've ever seen. If you show your players you don't have faith in a coach, then why would they listen to that coach. Do it behind the scenes if you have to do it.

12 yr olds getting f bombs is a bit much. I've coached 10 years from ages 10-13 and I never dropped that word. The f bomb isn't terrible for kids in college or even high school. Thats football. But when you start call them motherfrickers, joking or not, I don't agree with it.

Yeah, Malik was the only person who I thought had no redeeming qualities. It just goes to show, you can have all the talent in the world and it doesn't matter if your attitude is not right. He was a bitch from Episode 1 on and really one of the only ones who didn't evolve as a player/person.
I got a good chuckle watching episode 7 when the fat OL coach started talking shite to him on the sideline about being a prima donna, and then even the QB coach told the 3rd string dude who started to stop listening to Malik.
All of the coaches hate that kid based on what we saw on the show.

I wonder if Malik is partially doing this to just frick his dad over. Deep down he has to know his dad just views him as a paycheck.

That cafeteria scene was really crucial I felt where they were discussing his weight. He not only was disinterested, but looked genuinely embarrassed/distraught.
Malik gets a bad rap. Dude still competes and he does support his teammates for the most part. He just does not want to be there at all. Imagine being forced to do something that demanding. That’s brutal. Just the miles he’s putting on his body by playing football sucks in itself.

I’m not shocked by it at all anymore. Look at how we glorify college football and recruiting. You have guys in message boards trying to dig into these kids’ personal lives to determine whether or not they’ll commit there. And when they don’t they’re calling them hood rats and thugs. These 17-year olds have cameras in front of their faces and can broadcast their “decision” like they’re the next LeBron James. Society and the media are to blame for these kids behaving like they own everything, being douchebags.
shite, look on Twitter. It’s a cesspool for guys begging recruits to commit and the kids, who probably have never gotten much attention from home, are eaten up with it. They draw it out and create Top 20, Top 10 and Top 5, maybe even Top 3 lists. It’s disgusting
