He does give it to them like it is but he crosses too many lines. I just finished episode 4 and what a gigantic shitshow that was. I can’t stand Malik but I don’t blame him for going after JB and the unorganized lack of discipline he has, and it filters throughout the whole team. Telling the WR coach he sucks and his WRs suck is just an abomination, almost fist fighting on the field? Jesus Christ. Dude will never be able to hire a decent staff like this. He’s a miserable human being and I question whether or not he truly cares for the kids or just sees them as dollar signs to help prop up himself and the program.

Can’t believe the QB coach is doing it for free. The guy should have just gotten his teaching certification and went to a prominent high school to learn how to coach during his younger years. Like you guys have said, he tries to be too buddy buddy and is that young coach that wants to be liked.
He’ll figure it out as he gets older. He just needs to hit the high school route first

He's also really inconsistent and a poor model of the behavior he wants from his kids. Tells the kids to keep their cool and not get a penalty, then he gets a penalty. Tells the kids to not smoke weed, but if they're going to smoke it, go out into the fields and smoke it there instead of the dorms. Tells his kids to take ownership, then doesn't take ownership. There's just time after time where he says one thing then does something else or says one thing then says something that contradicts it.
These kids have had that sort of "leadership" all their lives, which is why they're in the shape they're in. They need someone to establish a very structured, controlled environment with real, immediate consequences that are predictable and consistent. Veering away from that just creates confusion in them and will result in the type of team they have.

Kept waiting for him to send an actual warning shot and dismiss some guys but he never did. Just threatened them every episode to go to class and give a shite or he’d get rid of them. Only he never got rid of them. Any of them. Even the obvious cancers.

He actually did get rid of some guys at ICC. They just were not featured on the series. With that being said, he let Malik get away with just about anything (Judging by the thread on r/CFB)

I think that QB coach was working more for Malik's dad than he was for the school. He did nothing to coach up the 2nd string guy, and got upset when Malik was talking to the 3rd string guy and giving him pointers.

I think Malik’s Dad is actually a bigger douche than JB to be honest. He did nothing in the best interest for Malik, only himself. The very epitome of the Dad living through a son stereotype.

JB got better as the season went on, Malik’s Dad is just a total jackass who is controlling his son's life. The part when he is talking about Malik with the QB coach right in front of him. His Dad is talking all sorts of trash about Malik in front of him without including Malik in the conversation.
