Had no idea this was coming. That looks great.

Hopefully it's a good movie.

Didn't see any of the newest reboots.

I'm a "man in a rubber suit" kind of guy, the CGI rarely does it for me.

Just don't watch the Wahlberg one. It's an outlier to be forgotten. Like the female Ghostbusters or The Last Jedi.

I think this is where the original planet of the apes comes in, the human astronauts will probably show up next movie. The observatory scene is an easter egg I bet and probably the want of studying of humans is establish in this movie.

So glad this franchise is continuing
Please God, don’t let Disney dilute it with a dozen streaming series.

They really are good films.

Koba taking over the APC in Dawn is a gut wrenching and masterful scene

MFing Koba

You know the apes winning is inevitable, but somehow during that battle you find yourself with hope for the humans then that happens

They must be using the Sam Hamm script from the early 2000s.

Here is the script at Mad Dog Movies.com.

I wonder how they’ll explain it in this series since it seems to be far more grounded in reality. I know Rise mentioned some astronauts had been lost in space so they already have it set up

In the 1st one there was a news report or newspaper article, referring to a rocket taking off. Not sure if it was supposed to come into play later or just an Easter egg.

They are, and definitely deserve to be discussed among the top trilogies of all time. They’re not the best, but up there.

My one nitpick is that the titles of the first two really should have been flipped.

Dawn -> Rise -> War -> Kingdom

Also, the first time seeing the Rise trailer was an all time theater moment for me.

It looked interesting for the first 2/3 but wasn’t quite sure what this movie was. Then the army of apes started getting me hyped and thinking “could it be?”

After the finish of Caesar roaring and the splash screen of RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES I lost it. So glad the actual movie met and exceeded that initial hype.

I hate every ape I see from Chimpan-A to chimpanzee. You'll never make a monkey out of me.

I honestly don’t hate the fact that there are some changes in “continuity” on how things went down, especially more in the realm of science fiction vs. science fantasy. Star Trek is a good example where events foretold in TOS as happening in the 90s obviously didn’t, and so they had to modify the timeline.

I'm hoping that they save the astronauts until we have a "modern" and advanced ape society, as Boulle wrote in the novel and as Rod Serling had in his original draft for the film. A 1960's technology ape city wasn't feasible for the '68 film's budget, but modern CGI and budgets could make it a thing.

If you want an entertaining vision of Serling's draft, check out Planet of the Apes: Visionaries, which did a great job of mapping it out visually.

Yes, it's adapted by that Dana Gould.

The biggest gut punch for me was the double whammy of the virus. Bad enough it killed almost everyone, setting the stage for the intelligent apes, but it also mutated again and struck those previously immune, destroying parts of the brain aggressively leaving them mute and eventually incapable of higher thinking.

Also, is any one else bugged the put the titles in the wrong place?

It should have been:
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
War for the Planet of the Apes
Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Second movie was far more adversarial for control of the recovery.

Most recent movie, they were broken, fading away, and fighting each other more than apes. The adversary the last efforts were focused on werent against apes, but this virus mutation.

Dammit I had been ignoring them forever but the positive reaction has convinced me I have to watch them all.

The first 3 are almost a perfect trilogy with a fantastic ending, but the world left a lot untapped so it's exciting that it's continuing.
