They spent more time on the slaves and Indians role then the war itself
I was thinking about watching the Civil War one but I think I'll skip it

Yea I didn’t really enjoy the amrev doc but the civil war doc is outstanding.
Highly recommend and it has the great Shelby Foote giving his thoughts. He also has the most perfect, quintessential Mississippi accent. Sounds like my grandparents used to

i bought the civil war one on prime years ago and never got around to watching it. i read Shelby Foote's trilogy last year which covers the whole war in outstanding detail so i dont feel the need to watch it anymore. Watched the Vietnam war one several years ago and thought it was great but i never finished it. Most his docs are pretty long and are big committments

I'll second that. I'd listen to him read a damn phone book. I believe he knew more about the Civil War than probably anyone else living at that time.

I occasionally watch the Civil war one, and have made it about halfway through it (and it's my first time watching it). I really like it, just don't normally put it on when I need something to watch.
I do enjoy Foote though, and recently bought first editions of his Civil War book trilogy. I've been wanting to get into those, but they are so fricking daunting to start. Almost 3,000 pages and the chapters are like 75+ pages apiece.

Almost everybody including the biggest wokesters finds Foote to be as entertaining as hell, regardless of whether they agree with what he's saying.

Yeah, it kind of does. About 40% of the American Revolution show is about the Indians, 40% is about the slaves, 15% is about women, and 5% is about the war itself.

I have those books and have read them. Funny thing is, while reading them, I had Foote's voice playing in my head as I read the words.

When he did the Civil War and Baseball docs he wasn’t “Ken Burns” yet. As he got bigger and more well known his status allowed him to insert more and more of his leanings into his work.
