Two very good shows but also very different.
To be fair, I’d say Breaking Bad had larger cultural impact…
It was a bigger part of the zeitgeist.

You're much more correct than OP, but Season 2 of the Wire > season 2 of Justified
But Season 2 of Justified > any individual season of BB
Justified is a show that should have told this same story in 1 less season or so.

Season 1 of Justified gets a lot of flack for the villain of the week format for some of the middle episodes, but there was some story arc building sprinkled in during that season especially with Boyd. But it is more villain of the week compared to the other seasons.
But even though season 1 wasn't peak Justified, the pilot episode and the season 1 season finale were some of the best Justified episodes. The opening scene with Raylan and Tommy Bucks perfectly sets the tone of the whole show, and then Raylan teaming up with Boyd in the season finale is great also.

Well shite, I've thought about watching this show multiple times, but you may have talked me into it. Can I just watch S2 or do i need to watch S1 to really enjoy 2? I don't think I have 6 seasons in me though.

i would sooner do a re-watch of Justified than just about any other show than the office or parks and rec. totally worth it, although S1 is a bit of villian of the week stuff.

You will probably want to go ahead and watch season 1. Like I said in one of my previous posts, season one is more "villain of the week" than the other seasons, but it does set up Boyd's character arc which is important to the rest of the series including season 2. And the pilot episode and the season 1 finale are peak justified episodes. And while the middle episodes of season 1 are more episodic in nature, it is still pretty good television when compared to other tv shows (especially the dialog in the show).
Trust me, if you give Justified a chance you will not be disappointed.

You need to watch season 1 to understand the relationships
Raylan, Boyd, Ava, Winona, Wynn Duffy, the Marshall's office, etc.
Recurring themes of the show are personal debts and revenge, and you will miss a lot of that in season 2 without watching season 1.
*ETA: Season 1 isn't great and it relies more on the week-to-week episodes, but it's not bad TV or anything. It's well-written with good characters and it's often funny. And it's your cable 10-12 episode seasons, not 20+ like network TV. Ignoring the impact on later seasons, there is no reason to skip season 1.
