The only time I noticed it was that first cell phone cam scene. Other than that, it was spot on.

Ok thank you. I was very confused with why they constantly had CGI on his face. I thought it was very obvious.

You can call it disaster porn, but when you’re basically saying gods are battling to death, is there a such thing as unthinkable destruction?

I don't have a problem with disaster porn because these are otherworldly beings fighting out balls to the wall.

What I have a problem with is that Zack Snyder just does disaster porn for the sake of it because in his mind, duh these are super heroes and villains fighting it out. He just tries to fit a square peg in a circle, say this happens with characters plot holes be damned and then move on to the disaster porn without getting us emotionally invested in it.

But there was good character development and chemistry built between characters in this movie for me to say it was worth my time and my money.

That's exactly what I'm saying.

But still, Avengers has plenty of disaster porn but they can still make good superhero movies without it and the biggest example of that is Captain America Civil War, Ant Man, and Spider Man Homecoming.

Disaster porn has to have a purpose and a stated goal instead of just having it in the movie for the sake of having it.

Superman- They finally got him right. That first iPhone footage of Superman was pretty whiplash effect compared to the brooding a-hole we've gotten previously from Superman. If he normally acted like this, I could see the world being sad he was gone, unlike the dictator he was presented as in the previous two films. I like how he's finally making light puns. And as for his behavior right after being revived, easy to say it produces the same effects as the Lazarus Pit does.

It's why I'm really excited about him going forward. There's so much potential with Henry Cavill as Superman to make some incredible Superman movies.

I hope DC gives Joss Whedon the Man of Steel 2 job.

quote:

Lois Lane- Amy Adams is a fine actress, but she comes across more than ever as radically miscast. I think she's miscast than Kate Bosworth was as Lois Lane, which is saying a lot. At least she wasn't shoved into every scene where she had no business being.

Nothing will ever top Erica Durance as Lois Lane. Damn shame her version was on the small screen and a low budget show like Smallville.

But it's also why I'm hoping against hope for a Superman and Wonder Woman relationship as those two deserve someone that's truly their equal and knows and understands what the other is going through. Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot isn't bad too look at together. Likely it won't happen though.

quote:

Too rushed/whiplash scenes- It becomes obvious which scenes Whedon wrote and which one Snyder wrote. Like the one between Lois Lane and Martha Kent was straight out of BvS and Whedon didn't care enough to go reshoot that scene. Also what was the point in the house being foreclosed by the bank?

Yep. If they wanted to save time and make a more meaningful scene, the would make that scene in smallville where Martha is packing up and lois comes by and she sees her and finds out about the foreclosure of the house that Clark Kent grew up in.

quote:

But yeah, by all standards, this is an improvement from Snyder's garbage, but his presence is still felt. Whedon did as good of a job cleaning up the mess as he could, and I commend him for it. I'd give it a C+ and a fresh tomato if it were on the Tomatometer.

Whedon did everything he could to get rid of the Snyder Stench from the movie but it's still Zack fricking Snyder and there's no wiping that stain out of the carpet.

With Snyder gone, I'm excited as shite about the direction of the DCEU and the potential it has under people like Whedon, Jenkins and Reeves but it's going to be a while until they can develop an entirely new tone and identity that is completely separate from the one Zack Snyder tried and failed to develop.

I just saw it and was disappointed. It could have been so much more.

Looking back on it, I think Warner's decision to separate their TV and Movie Universes is the biggest flaw.

For example, compared to Grant Gustin's Barry Allen, Ezra Miller's version is so much more whiny and annoying...and less convincing. However, Henry Cavill's Superman is so much better than Tyler Hoenchin's version.

Also, they didn't build up to Justice League the way that Marvel built up to The Avengers. The first time you flesh out half the roster shouldn't be during the ensemble film. By the time you got to the Avengers film, you already had at least one movie released that had each member of the team in it, INCLUDING the main villain. In fact, the only major or minor cast member that hadn't appeared in at least one film leading up to it was Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill).

Honestly, I agree.

Grant Gustin's flash even when he's down in the dumps has stature, confidence and a resolve about him. I just don't see that with Ezra Miller.

And with all due respect to Tyler and he's done a fine job as Superman as best as he could, he just doesn't have that look and stature that Superman would normally have and his lines just seem a little forced to me and shoe horned.

However, Henry Cavill does not have that problem as he has the look of stature and authority like he could kill someone while being a boy scout about it and that's the same look Christopher Reeve had as Supes, and when the league looked at him with an awe and a reverence after the brought him back from the dead before the fight, he really sold that awe and reverence well.

Henry Cavill's Superman and Grant Gustin's Flash would be quite the matchup and is frankly a complete missed opportunity.

I understand why they didn't do it given the reaction to Bosworth, but I think Jennifer Lawrence could make a fantastic Lois Lane. Aside from being a journalist, I can't see any resemblance to Lois in the comics and Amy Adams.

Went with the kids. It was a fun movie and it had us entertained.
Aside from some CGI issues, this movie was well worth seeing in a theater.
As someone who grew up with Christopher Reeves as Superman, this is the first time since then that I have been excited to see the Man of Steel on the Big Screen.

I believe this was a direct result of the direction that Cavill is taking the character and the score of Elfman.

I left looking forward to the next D.C. Movie. Which is a first.

Saw it yesterday. Liked it. Good popcorn flick.

What was the deal with Superman’s face at the beginning of the film when those kids were interviewing him? Looked weird.

Also, I need more Wonder Woman. I can’t get enough of Gal Gadot

The Mission Impossible people wouldn't allow Cavill to shave his mustache while they were finishing that film, so he had to do Whedon's JL reshoots knowing that they'd remove the 'stache in post. It's most noticeable in the smartphone video at the beginning and the race at the end.

In that same vein, it wouldn't look right for anyone but Gal Gadot to play Wonder Woman.

Just got out the matinee.
Kids enjoyed it. I had a good time all the matters.
Some critiques. I think the people talking about Cavil's moustache are crazy. I only noticed it in the opening scene.
I think the group was good and well cast. Though Barry Allen is doing a non stop Jimmy Fallon impersonation.

The power of Superman was insane.

Superman turning to look Barry in the eyes as the rest of the world stands still is added to my favorite superhero movie moments of all time.

Yes.

Erica Durance completely nailed the essence of the character and what makes her tick and I say this as I'm not fan of the Lois Lane character and not even a fan of her romantic relationship with Superman but Smallville gave me a ton of pause as it showed me how it could really work but I think that's because she grew up with Clark Kent and fell in love with him first before Superman ever came into the picture and she fell in love with him too.

I just don't see it.

Those two couldn't be more polar opposites and have very little in common with each other with two completely different world views and backgrounds. There's a reason why the animated series only tinkered with the possibility but never really went through with it and I don't recall it being a possibility in the comics.

However, Superman and Wonder Woman has not only hooked up in the comics before, there has also been animated movies showing them together. Hell, even one of the best stories there is has them together and it's called Kingdom Come.

And Batman is getting married to Catwoman in the comics right now so there's that.

My main issue was Batman having a sense of humor... They call him the dark knight for a reason... Someone needs to get it right
