I did kind of like the submarine part where the big fish is eaten by a monster who is eaten by another monster. I like big monsters.

The first had it's moments if you get past Whiny Anakin and Jar Jar, the Darth Maul fight at the end may be the best action scene of the series.

The 2nd was idk, some points I think it's awful and some it's good

The 3rd, probably my favorite of the trilogy just because I think the Obiwan/Anakin scene was well done

It felt like a Kids' movie. Like the whole purpose of the movie was to sell kiddie merchandise. I watched Star Wars in Elementary school for the first time and it felt like a grownup movie to me, not something designed for my age. Which was cool.

Jedi came out when I was in 3rd grade
even back then, the schoolyard talk was they were going to do make 3 prequels, and 3 more set after jedi
we had all the action figures, the lightsabres, the big arse millennium falcon, the x wings...

so I waited 16 years for TPM
the music starts for the opening sequence, the theatre is literally yelling with joy..
2.5 hours later I wanted to put my fist thru a wall

jar jar, the ridiculous pod announcers, the cartoonish Asian voices on the trade federation guys, the terrible acting, darth maul onscreen for about 4 minutes, the overdone CGI

just an awful, awful movie

I've talked to guys much older than me who thought all of the Star Wars movies were for kids.

episode 2 has a lot of good scenes

The only good scene I can think of is the Gladiator pit scene, and before they get their light savers, not after. Everything else is absolute shite. The pod race and the Darth Maul fight scene at least work to the advantage of TPM.

it might be bad, but the battle scenes were badass

No they weren't and I'll tell you why: there are no stakes for either side. We've got lifeless droids on one side and mindless clones on the other. I don't have to be concerned that these are real people fighting this war and don't have kids to return home to and feed. Plus I have no idea who is on one side and I know that soon the clones are going to be the Jedis enemies. This by default makes it worse than the Jar Jar battle. It's hard for me to give an absolute flying frick about the battle when the two sides are simply mindless drones.

And it's much better than ROTJ. Honestly, SW might be the most overrated series of all time. And I love SW.

and they waited til the last twenty minutes to show you who the bad guy was. Should've brought Count Duku or however you spell it out in the first twenty. would've been much more interesting.

I would say ROTJ & ROTS are comparable. Each are half good and half bad.

ROTJ's best > ROTS' best
ROTS' worst is better than ROTJ's worst.

Ewoks were definitely the low point of the original trilogy. Nothing can touch the Emperor/Vader/Luke scenes in ROTJ though. Grade A stuff.

Loved this fight.

We used to play Duel of the Fates on repeat at work until the boss would get too annoyed and shut it down.

Personally I think the Ewok battle was worse than anything in ROTS. That being said, you are right that the ROTJ certainly reaches much higher heights than ROTS. The throne room scene may have been the best in the series.

Eh, the whole time you knew the Emperor was the real bad guy. Duku and Maul were just pawns

Except they fricked that all up too but again it's so much better that the other two so it gets a pass even though it's average at best.

Yes. It isn't awful, it's just disappointing.

I'll still watch it if its on. It's not that bad. AOTC was the worst Star Wars film of the series.

I have tried to wipe TPM from my memory.

I spent all of episode 2 waiting to see a Yoda fight scene and was woefully disapernted.

We're the same person, because everything you wrote is exactly how I felt. I was in the 3rd grade for ROTJ as well.

I had a book club picture book for "Revenge of the Jedi"- wish I would have kept it. That was going to be the original movie title.

At the end of the movie Fanboys, they're all in the theater about to watch Phantom Menace, and one of the guys asks, "What if it sucks?"

Looking back on it, objectively, it wasn't good. There were glimpses of good, but I think everyone was so excited for a new Star Wars movie that they lowered their standards.

I actually like AotC the best of the prequels. RotS makes me want to hurt kittens.

I am a huge Star Wars fan and defended these movies for a long time. But somewhere along the line even I had to give in to how truly shitty Phantom Menace is.
