Shutter Island. It is a pretty good horror film in the same class as The Silence of the Lambs.

Lol no.

Maybe a spoiler warning needed for:

Yeah, to me it was a formulaic Twist Ending movie that telegraphed where it was going way in advance. As soon as it became obvious I just was angry that I'd spent money to watch it and the twist was so easy to spot. Maybe because twist endings were the trend at the time.

Anyone catch William Macy's slip up when he's discussing his wife (Nina Hartley) getting nailed on the driveway?

Yeah something about "my wife has an arse in her cock in the driveway"

I like that they didn't reshoot it. It's perfect.

Yes.

I had to replay that twice to make sure I heard it correctly.

Too funny

I always assumed the character said it that way to show how shook up he was.

It is a rip off of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, which is one of the best silent movies of all time. Watch that instead of Shutter Island.

I very much enjoyed Shutter Island. Yes, it's not original and to me it wasn't about the "twist", it was about the journey to get there. I thought it was a very well acted movie even though the ending was predictable.

There will be Blood was very specific to DDL's performance. Hard 8 is underrated. Boogie Nights might be his most fun film.

But, Magnolia has a certain indescribable quality that separates it from the rest of his work as "extra" special, IMHO.

The Electric Circus bar in Monroe had a similar floor the one in that video. There was disco music and dancing in other bars, but that was the place to go pick up chicks. There was a liquor store in front of it, so we'd always take a pint in to strengthen our drinks. That store sold Ducks Unlimited caps.

I was just as much of a meathead as Dirk and Reed back then. Nearly every time we went in there, my best friend and I did pushups in the parking lot before we went in.

Years later we went to a Halloween party in Dallas dressed as Hans and Franz. Won a pose off against two other guys in Hans & Franz costumes, because we wrapped tennis balls over our biceps so we could actually flex them.

Macy's character was so great in this movie. You look at him, and you wonder why this guy is in the porn industry. He should be some middle level accountant somewhere respectable, but he's mixed up in this business, and even he probably has no idea how it happened.

He married a whore and tried to turn her into a housewife. She makes him sleep on the sofa while she's banging some stud. And he does it.

The best part is when he catches her porking some dude on New Year's Eve. He goes to his car to get a gun. He's about to commit a crime of passion. And he locks the door afterwards. Who does that in the heat of the moment? But that was just the type of straightlaced dude he was. He always locks the car door just in case.

Macy's character was a great example of how incredible the wardrobe and hair people were on that movie too. You knew that dude was a loser as soon as you saw his hair do. Don Cheadle's African prince outfit always makes me bust out laughing
