You didn’t see the point of his character? There’s so many levels to it, he was a childhood hero of Tony’s now after being away for so long can’t adjust to how things have progressed in the family. He’s disruptive and insubordinate, he’s not only Adrianna’s uncle he’s engaged to be Tony’s brother in law all while competing with Tony to the point of trying to clip him using Junior as his support. The show is about Tony, all the antagonist characters are about how Tony navigates and interacts with them. As far as Janice killing him it’s pretty obvious why she does it so dunno how that’s confusing to you.

If you didn’t laugh your arse off during the intervention scene, you might as well stop watching.
Yeah I didn’t articulate myself very well. This episode has been by far the best of what has otherwise been the worst season. The entire intervention scene was good….Tony being more upset about the dog being sat on than anything else was the pinnacle moment followed by Sylvio and Paulie.
I posted while half asleep after 2 AM so you’ll have to forgive me

Richie was probably the best antagonist of the entire series.
He wasn’t even really an antagonist, just another guy who’s respect Tony couldn’t command, and was alienated because of Tony’s insecurity. Tony was so narcissistic that he had to be surrounded by yes men, but the problem with that is that yes men were weak. In the end he was left with guys who were super loyal to him, but had killed or alienated all of his biggest earners and true power players. How different would the war with NY had been if Tony still had guys like Ralphie and Furio, and had learned to work with old school guys like Richie and Feech?

Started watching last Spring and went through it 5 times. My biggest disappointment was Melfi not telling Tony about the rape. There’s no telling what Tony would have done to the kid. The dream sequences while Tony was on the vent were awesome. I hated Uncle June. My fave was prob Sil. Bobby was a good guy but did what had to be done.

I know that Tony hated seeing other people happy. Lol

Love it. We watched it as it originally aired in the 90’s and I rewatched it all again last year. Great as the first time.

The best scene in the whole series is Paulie causing Tony to have a medical crisis just by talking to him.

Amazing how people react differently to the same events…I loved Uncle Junior. My favorite character on the show….I also hated Tony’s dream scenes so bad that I fast forwarded through each one of them lol…but different strokes, right? At least we both loved the show…

Richie wasn't on the show long enough and Ralphie was on too long.
Ralphie was just annoying in every scene. Never liked that character at all.

That’s the definition of antagonist and do you understand that the mafia is a paramilitary organization? Those yes men often questioned Tony, Sil even directly disobeys him with fear of losing his life but orders have to be followed or the whole thing falls apart.

Holy damn blue hell.
Some of the comments are mind blowing. Just goes to show why they make ketchup, mustard, mayo, etc. Everyone has different tastes (literally and figuratively).
I wished Ralphie would've been able to stay on longer, but it just wasn't possible. You could see trouble brewing for he and Tony for many episodes. I felt bad for Ralphie when he came to meet Tony at Vesuvio's to apologize and Tony treated him like some fresh dog shite he was scraping off the bottom of his shoe.
Ralphie had some fantastic one liners and responses. When Paulie requested the sitdown and Ralphie showed up late to which Paulie said "you're late!" Ralphie's response: "Tomorrow I'll be on time, but you'll be stupid forever."
Ralphie calling Green Grove and getting Paulie's mom all tuned up over the gerbil in the arse and needing her Blue Cross Blue Shield number had me in tears

I have had a hard time taking Ralph seriously because I can only see him as Cosmo from the fugitive.
One more episode left in Season 4. Loved when Bobby told Janice to shut the frick up. This shite she’s trying to pull on him after his wife died is nauseating

I see him as the Captain from bad boys.

Agree that some of these comments are truly mind blowing…Ralphie was an epic part of the show.

just to clarify, you're saying in the last roughly 9-10ish months you've watched the whole series 5 times? Good heavens man

I found little kid AJ hilarious. You had to feel bad for him more than dislike him.

Yes, 15 years later. First off, excellent show. It’s behind The Wire and maybe GOT in my HBO ranking, but it certainly didn’t disappoint. Tony is probably the best single character from those shows. Master performance from Gandolfini.
It gets much better each time you watch it. I prob watch it twice a year and have seen it through around 10 times. Each time gets better and realize new things i didnt pick up on the previous times i watched. by far the deepest, most thought provoking show i have ever seen. 10/10, GOT doesnt lick the a-hole of Tony Soprano
ETA: does anyone really believe Tony doesnt die at the end? I always think back to the scene of Tony and Bobby in the boat fishing and Bobby says "you probably dont even hear it when it happens, right?" fast forward a few episodes to "Made in America" and the final scene goes black after the man at the bar at Holstiens walks past Tony into the bathoom, Meadow walks in, Tony looks up at her, "DONT STOP", then black. gives me chills kinda
The Sopranos 6.13 - "You probably don't even hear it when it happens, right?"
The Sopranos Season 6 - Made in America - The Final Scene

If you saw the Chevy EV commercial then you know that Tony and Carmela die, but the kids don't.

Quasimodo predicted it.
