I felt like the show was brilliantly written and acted, a true original...but by the end I wanted every one of those MFers to die. I know it's not a popular opinion, but it is what it is.

The show made perfect sense except Christopher getting married almost immediately after Ade was taken out. Christopher’s storyline sucked after Ade was killed, but his marriage was the worst part.

Tony killed the people closest to him, including his best friend (Big Pussy), his childhood best friend and cousin (Tony B) and his protege (Christopher),
It's a nasty business but a leader has to make decisions.
Tony wasn't wrong.
Pussy had it coming. He took an oath and working with the feds is unforgivable. At least he died quick.
It cost Tony $$$ to do it his way with his cousin. He could've saved his money and let Phil do it his way. Tony deserves respect for that. His cousin was dead one way or another.
Chrissy was given multiple chances. Junior Soprano would've whacked him out the 1st time if you remember the convo between him and Tony.

The one loop I wanted to see closed was for Melfi to tell Tony about getting raped and for Tony to find the guy and hand out justice.

If you didn’t laugh your arse off during the intervention scene, you might as well stop watching.
It is one of the top 2 funniest scenes in TV drama history. The other being the frick/frick me/mother frick scene from The Wire. Depending on the day of the week, I go back and forth to which one is best.
Interesting fact. Both scenes start with the almost same exact line.
The Wire: Ahhhhh frick.
The Sopranos: What the frick?

After watching it again I strongly believe it was actually Butch DeConcini from the Lepertazzi family that had killed. He used Tony to get Phil killed so he could become boss.
Agree, and I also think Paulie had a lot to do with it, too. Went down the YouTube rabbit hole and thought this video on scissors strung it together pretty well…
Sopranos - Scissors
Also, Paulie 1.) worked w NY crew when in prison, 2.) feared death and would do what he had to do, 3.) was purposely spared by Butchie, and 4.) was the last man standing when basking in the sun in front of Satriele’s in the finale.

It's been a couple of years since I watched the whole thing, but was Paulie now boss with everybody gone? And he helped Butchie get everybody so he could be? If so I wonder if Paulie also wanted some revenge on Tony after Tony was giving him shite about running his mouth and his laugh on that trip to Florida. Which season was that?

Boss of what? What was even left to boss over?

Yea, at best Paulie becomes a soldier for New York, who turns the rest of the glorified crew into an actual crew. The guy who killed Phil definitely gets whacked though.
ETA: the big problem for both families though is that Carlo flipped. They don’t have time to get into it at the end of the show, but I would assume that with Tony gone, the feds lean on him for info on New York.

Paulie being the last man standing also makes sense for his story arc. He and Tony are the only two characters to have paranormal experiences throughout the series. Unlike Tony, he actually heeded the warnings from the supernatural to make amends with his mother and to be somewhat less of a shithead. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he becomes the lone survivor afterwards.
