after “jaws” came out there was a run of stupid jaws sequels and equally stupid shark/orca/etc movies, and what those movies all had in common was the characters were so bad, audiences rooted for the shark
There's a documentary on Shudder about this.
Fun fact: my dad was a PA on one of them

I’ll still go see it because I’m a glutton for punishment, but I definitely don’t have my hopes up
I actually missed all the spoilers and skipped through all the details. Just noticed they kept making jokes about it being bad and Jurassic World: Refund

Well don't expect the original JP and understand what you're getting into and appreciate the major scenes/set pieces. Even he said they were awesome.

Exactly. It's a silly popcorn flick about dinosaurs. Shut your brain off and just enjoy

Well that’s encouraging, as long as it looks good and is popcorn entertaining I’m cool with it.
If it’s a decent bit better than Dominion, that’s a win

My 12 year old really wants to go see this. I like dinosaurs, but the last 2 have been so bad.
I'll probably take her because me and her haven't had a "just us" night, so glad to hear it isn't completely terrible.

Then the most underrated scene with this theme was the raptor one. They movie went on and on and you forgot about the raptors, then the annoying bf went to pee and it was like "oh shite here we go" then BOOM. Raptors dead never to be referenced again. I took that as a clear sign they wanted to let everyone know the raptor thing was way overdone for 6 movies and we're going in a different direction. I felt it was cheeky but legit funny.
They tried this in JP3 when the Spino killed the T Rex and the fans hated that shite.

Better than the last four but still underwhelming. The overall story was flat. The cinematography was decent but for frick's sake, dial the saturation back a bit so it doesn't look like an IG filter.
What really strained believability more than genetically engineered dinosaurs was a 90lb, 14 year old girl knocking a grown man on his arse. And when he backs off when she charges him in the climax... even though he has a gun. fricking stupidly bad.
Then there’s the dad... a textbook beta male who lets his daughters and the obnoxious dumbass boyfriend steamroll him like he’s a substitute teacher and he allowed it. Give me a fricking break.
Just like JP3 you instantly knew who was destined to be dino shite. Billy was the only wildcard in JP3. In JWR, I guess it’s the boyfriend even though I was pretty sure they wouldn't dare to kill a kid off. But as soon as the entire gang is together, you can instantly point out who's dying.
The kills were forgettable and underwhelming. The whole awestruck Titanosaurus moment was just dumb. We’ve seen six of these movies now and these wonder struck scenes aee stale and these cartoon creatures are about as impressive as a fricking youtube ad.
And the score was forgettable. Just bland, generic background noise with no identity and barely any emotion that forgetsitself by the next scene. Half the time I felt like I was watching Danny Mcbride and Will Farrell's land of the Lost rather than a Jurassic Park movie thanks to the score.
I personally wished we saw more of the raptors and would have preferred them over the mutadons or whatever the hell they were called.
And the D-Rex... I did like how he didn't show up until the climax. But wtf? What a letdown. For a huge mutant dinosaurs with six limbs, he was unimpressive. I am glad we didn't see a final battle scene between dinosaurs.
With that being said, it was better than I expected it to be. Still full of stupidly dumb shite but far less than the previous four movies. It's worth a watch once but don't expect anything original or earth shattering. But they really need to kill this franchise although we know Universal won't.

I've found something to like about all the JP movies until this one but it's straight up trash

It was ok, but the big bad looked like something out of a Godzilla movie, not Jurassic Park. I liked the ones with Chris Pratt better.
