What would be really cool is after the movie, they reveal who the next Batman will be.

I'm actually looking forward to this movie. Joaquin is one of my favorite actors and I think he will do justice to the role. Jared Leto was a trainwreck.

If they want to duplicate Marvel's success, this movie ends with an after credit scene of the new Batman on a rooftop watching the new Joker and then he jumps off the roof. Cut to black. Batman: 2020.

Ledger isn’t even in the same league as JP when it comes to acting.
If ledger wouldn’t have died, that performance wouldn’t be so “legendary”. It was good but not as good as everyone makes it out to be.

Does anyone have to?

Why not a movie that expounds upon this quote?

"Ya wanna know how I got these scars? My father; was a drinker; and a fiend. And one night, he goes off crazier than usual. Mommy grabs the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn't like that. Not. One. Bit. So, me watching, he takes the knife to her, laughing while he does it. He turns to me and say, why so serious? He comes at me with the knife. Why so serious? Sticks the blade in my mouth. Let's put a smile on that face! Aaaaaand. Why so serious?"

We'd find out how Ledger's joker came to be without having to replace Ledger. At least not yet.

So I don’t know how I feel about this origin. Isn’t one of the main themes of The Joker character is that he comes out of nowhere with no explanation or true motives.

The attempt itself feels a little like Solo. Meaning this is an origin story that may not be needed.

I'm skeptical too, but Phoenix signing on is what got me excited.

This movie looks like it's going to attempt to give me more insight and back story on the Joker than I really want.

I'll watch it but I think I'll have to treat it as more of an "Elseworlds" type of story.

I'm sure it will be well done and Phoenix will kill it, but overall this looks like #NotMyJoker.

Yeah that's not the Joker. Looks like a fine making of a psychopath movie they slapped the name Joker on to increase interest.

It amazes me people doubted Joaquin. This is going to be great.

i mean After Solo, we find out Han was part of the empire....when you would have thought he would have mentioned that when joining the rebellion.

Edit: If this movie is rated R and tells the story of him falling into insanity, then this could be amazing.

This is the vibe I got from the trailer. Phoenix looks amazing yet also disturbing. Looks like it could be a really good movie. It’s probably going to split some people but I think this is an in-depth look at Joker and his descent into madness and that’s a borderline horror film. It’s gotta be rated R I think

Im just repeating a post i agreed with from the other thread that i agreed with, but it is a sham they are making "society" create the joker.

I buy it. I’m in on this movie.

The bottom line is that in any movie we never see “our” personal interpretation of the Joker or any other character. We are going to see Todd Phillips’ and Joachim Phoenix’s interpretation. That’s all. Our personal interpretations... the Jokers in our minds... are all still valid. This is not a zero sum situation. I’m eager to see this take on the character.

If this trailer didn't intrigue you, you can DIAF. Joaquin just made everyone a believer with this.

Honestly, I don’t get the hate either. Looks like a loose adaptation of one of the greatest Joker stories ever told: The Killing Joke

Because that's not even the only origin story of the Joker's smile in that movie alone
