Joker didn’t need a sequel

Let’s just go ahead and say that The Penguin on Max is the better option in The Batman universe.

I don’t know why any Joker movie should need such a colossal budget

I was fine with the Joker we had for decades that was just a bad guy with a healthy dose of insane. You knew there was a backstory there that even he hinted at once in awhile but never delved too far into it, you never knew if he was being fully truthful himself about it, and most of it was left to your own imagination. You just mainly focused on what he was now.

This deeper, developmental, heavier emo/“look what society turned me into” victim-type Joker just hasn’t worked (for me anyway).

I know it has for some.

Phillips has said that's false. We'll find out in time who's telling the truth.

This movie was greenlit to torpedo the original.

The “wrong” people liked the first movie. Disillusioned young white men flocked to it.

This couldn’t be allowed. He gets played over by a woman, gangraped, and killed. That was the point of making this movie. Losing money is worth it to WB to run a knife through the original movie’s fanbase.
