Thats what I had assumed. That he was using on the road, then got stuck at home and couldn't hide it from her, and she made him go to rehab.
Everything public has said the opposite though, that he was clean on the road but couldn't avoid it around her/their friends. Maybe it's some weird misdirection, I dunno.
I just hope this isn't the end of his stand-up career, it was by far his strongest medium.

Of those, I would be shocked if Myers, Holmes, or Birbiglia are anything but supportive influences.

Same - all seem like relatively wholesome family men.
I really believe Myers was trying to clean him up when he gave him the Late Night gig. Don't know how close he and Birbiglia are - Mike had graduated from Georgetown the year before he started, I believe, but was still involved with the clique there. He and Pete Holmes were in each other's weddings I think.
Kroll I could see as a bad influence.
Davidson the less said the better.
